460 DA Owners Thread

I've never heard of a difference around the hatches (which doesn't mean it doesn't exist) Jaws researched the ER vents in detail. IIRC the change was made in '01 for '02 model year 460's. If you search his threads I think he posted the exact hull #.

Any of you replace your factory coffee maker with one that fits in the cubby with minimal modifications? What coffee maker fits in there? Thanks

We completely removed the factory maker and mount. Quite a bit of storage space with it gone. We carry a small nespresso machine that we put on the countertop when using.

TheWolfTC - Great looking job on A/C install. And the lights look cool. Who makes those cupholders? I've seen some but these are much classier looking. Also, what lights did you use for the side vents?

Mid way through the 2001 production they changed the hullside lay up. I believe that #517 was the first "balsa delete" on the sides and I'm not aware of any decking changes. Please remember that Sea Ray started numbering over again each year beginning with boat #500. Hope my memory is accurate.
Enjoy your boating everyone. Were up in Charleroix, MI right now.

Thanks GMAC!
I have been doing a little modifying to the AC install the past couple days. Needed to get more air out of it! I didn't have enough venting to the cockpit so replaced the 2" vents with 4" and that has made a difference, of course that meant replacing the duct work as well...fun. :) (NOT) Also had to change the main outlet cover as it wasn't allowing the air to rise to the top of the canvas...so a little bit of testing and re-working but we have gotten it dialed in quite a bit better.

Prime Industries makes them and Amazon sells them.

I went with the RF remote controller so I wouldn't have to point at some led sensing bulb somewhere... :)

This was a very easy install...dropped the wires down into the ER above the fuel tanks, then wire tied them across the ceiling to the other side. I placed the controller in the port side stern locker. The 12v connection was to a small bus bar I added off the generator battery. Use 2 sided 3M automotive tape to adhere it to the inside of the vent cowling.

Have fun!

Drop on down south to Elk Rapids!!! Its a short run and we have some slips available for you. :)
It's a GREAT Harbor and you will have fun with the crew here.
"POP UP" Cocktail party starts at 5pm Friday and all boaters welcome...the Elk Rapids Yacht club will supply the cheese and crackers so BYOB.

OK Thanks ... I'll see if I can dig into it this weekend and start tracking the power source.
I do have the washer / drier specific switch on the panel but don't see a GFI in the circuit.

Did you find the culprit...if not I think I just did.
Under the sink there should be a GFI outlet that handles that circuit.

The other GFI is in the engine room and it handles the ice maker...The 3rd GFI circuit is in the guest head vanity and the 4th is in the master head vanity. If there is a 5th...that would be interesting...LOL

I am hoping one of you all can post a picture of the cockpit refrigerator or icemaker. I left the boat planing on ordering a new unit but I am second guessing myself.

Thanks in advance,

Josh

Thanks for the response - I've covered all of those and they're all good, still no power to washer / dryer

Hey guys, anyone ever had any issues with thier hydronic swim platform? When we try and lower the platform the cylinder raises to release the arms that lock the platform in place but that's it. The platform will not lower into the water. I know I'm probably going to have to haul it out of the water to find the culprit but just wandering if there is a fuse somewhere I might be missing.

My boat neighbor had a similar issue and I am fairly sure they had air in the lines. He called the manufacturer of the platform and they provided troubleshooting.

On a side note, installed a new dometic turbo 16kbtu ac in my main salon. Turned out nice. And man this thing blows about 30-40% harder then the original cruise air Taylor unit!

I just swapped my original CruiseAir in the master berth to the Dometic as well. I agree it is a significant upgrade from the CruiseAir. I am thinking about doing the same thing to my salon unit as well!!

What btu did you use in the master? I may just change that one as well.

Finished my last project of the day. Replaced the cockpit refrigerator with a Dometic Crx-1050s. It was a bit of a project because it screws in from the inside and the holes didn't line up with anything. I ended up using a piece of 1x1 teak and mounting that to the back of the Fiberglass so the refrigerator could screw into that.

For anyone doing this in the future I'll save you some research. The dometic units allow you to remove the freezer compartment which gives more space for the refrigerator. There are basically 4 models that will fit the cutout. A crx-1050s which is 120v/12v or the crx-50s 12v only.

Or if you want the drawer version a crd-1050 or crd-50 12v only.

The white and black versions wouldn't work because they have the trim on the sides which is spot welded on so I was stuck with stainless.

Here is a pic.

I have some stainless trim from a dock neighbor to cover the 2 holes on the top from the old unit's flange.

460 owners - I've got Cummins C6TA with ZF drive transmissions. My mechanic noticed some black rubbery material coming out of the top of both of them where there's a "screen" with little round holes in it. He indicated that transmission failure could occur, uncertain when that might happen; and that the fix involves taking it apart and replacing a series of black "hockey-puck-like" things inside the units.

Now I'm second-guessing taking the boat north, in favor of staying closer to home where I can get back on 1 if I need to.

Anyone had this issue? I've had the boat for about a year; almost 1,000 hours on the mains.

This sounds like the same failure that has occurred a bit on the 48DA. This post probably describes best what is involved. They chose to remove the engine however I know a friend of mine had this issue and completed the repair in the water without removing the engine. It's tight but possible on a 48DA. Not sure how much the 460's engine bay differs. If there is rubber starting to show I would consider repairing before it fails completely.

Good luck.

Thanks Paul- yeah that looks like what I'm seeing. My engine guy says he will have to separate the engine from gear, he did not mention engine removal.

So much fun...

@ NotHerDecision I went with the DTU8, its a 8k BTU unit. I am going to have to order me a fridge like yours, that looks awesome! I pulled my ice maker out last year and have been using the space for life jacket storage.
Now that I see the fridge that is definitely the way to go!!
