Official 330 Sundancer Thread

im thinking next time I go out I can burn only from the port tank? can I select them on these boats or does each motor pull from its respective tank?

If you have the cross over valves you can pick what engine pulls from what tank. But the valves were an option so you may or may not have them. You burn so much fuel with these that using fuel to level a list is not a solution. The lack of generator should not cause a list on a 330. I have no generator either and no list, either before or after I added the twin 6v battery bank. There must be something else causing the list.

Well, hopefully tonight we get the stbd engine back together and I can get my summer started. We are supposed to be heading to the North Channel Saturday!!

was yours built without a generator? I ask because if so , the factory probably relocated some components to maintain the transverse stability. Im thinking about all the "stuff" on the port side , galley , crap tank / system , refrigerator , two batteries , all the extra fiberglass for the head etc etc , with the gen weight was removed from the stbd, it has to have some effect. I definitely don't have any water in the bilges etc , no "accessories" on the port side. this isn't a heavy list , but enough to irk me a bit. I used to work deep sea on ships and I could always feel the slightest 1/2 degree!

by the way , what steering wheels can we replace our stockers with on the 95 330da? I was thinking of the stainless 3 spoke with knob

bug screens for overhead hatches. where can these be sourced? also what creative options have the member come up with for companionway screens?
thanks
Your hatches should have removable screens mounted from the underside. There are 4 tabs that rotate out & the frame comes out. If yours are missing, look under the seats etc to see if the PO took them out & stored them. If the frames are there but no screen (torn out?) You can replace the screen material like any home screen. If none of the above are applicable then give a call to Pompette/Bomar & ask if they are available for purchase. They are the OEM. This is their phone number: 603-826-5791. Good luck.

I'm also open to idea for a blackout for the forward hatch, the sun seems to shine right in my eyes every morning!

I used a piece of white foam board & glued black oaktag (I think) to the cabin side. I cut it to fit directly under the hatch. I placed it between the screen & hatch. It works great & was under $5! I looked into the more expensive options but was not comfortable drilling into the frame to mount them. I got the idea somewhere on this forum a while back.

When I was looking at all the canvas covers that came with my 98 290 Sundancer I found a little square piece of sunbrella material with pocketed corners to cover the hatch from the outside. It's a good option.

That sounds easy. I think I have a roll of black vinyl somewhere in my garage. I guess I could whip something up.

My boat came with those covers. I never bothered putting them on. Not sure why. Maybe I didn't want to take down the side panel of my camper top & walk up to the bow every time I wanted to get a little light in? Anyway, it takes less that a minute to R & R the "shade" that I made from inside the boat.

Yeah, true enough. Every once and a while I'd stuff a t-shirt between the screen and the window, did the job but it a little ghetto. I think I'll make something up like you have.

Sorry to hear you were having trouble Jim. I hope all goes well with the trip. At least the weather is finally warm. And with the high water levels it should be a great trip. My next vaca is not till later in August.

I've done that too with a towel!

Any interest in a 1995 Sundacer 330 swimplatform? I have one I pulled from my boat. Platform is in great shape. I put on a new swimplatform.com model. Boat was at Lake Cumberland Ky. So it's spent it's whole life covered up in a covered slip. I currently have it at home in a shipping container. I live in north central Indiana. If you have a damaged one this would make a nice replacement. I'm just testing the waters to see if any interest.
I would be interested in your swim platform. Had mishap on my first attempt docking my new baby. Never having v drives before hit the throttles instead of the shifters and the dock got in the way. New to the forum so getting my first opportunity to go through all of the threads.

I sent you a private message.

The week was great! However, second last day coming out of Little Current the newly repaired engine overheated. Idled back to Killarney to have a look, and its looking like it popped the new head gaskets. We limped home all the way down the bay at 7 knots, took 15 hours. At least the weather was nice.

Hi guys,

Thought this post might belong here.

Recently bought myself a lovely 95 Sundancer 330, moving up from a Bayliner Avanti 3450. Great boat, and happy to be part of the Sea Ray family :).

One thing though that has been bugging me is the steering. It's definitely cable, but does anyone know if the standard option is power or is it pure manual steering? Is there any easy way to tell? My other boat had hydraulic and found myself really only using the clutch when slipping or pulling out for the most part, as steering really accomplished everything. However, with this boat, I find myself being forced to steer the majority of the time with both the clutch and throttles as the steering feels wonky and doesn't seem to have much effect is turning the boat. I'm not sure if this is normal for this steering type or if there might be a problem. Moreover, the other day, the wheel got "stuck" in the sense where it wouldn't lock to either side, meaning i could keep spinning the wheel either direction and it wouldn't stop. It was causing my boat to just go starboard no matter what and it took a lot of playing with the wheel to finally get it start locking at maximum left and right positions again. Maybe I just over turned it and the cable slipped out? Anyway, looking for any advice with this.

Also, would anyone recommend switching the cable steering into hydraulic? Can it even be done?

Thanks!

what style raw water pump would be on the 95 330da 7.4 mercruiser bluewater?
do I have the water / fuel combo ?
