I recently bought a Sea Ray 390 MY with an extended swim platform. The platform is rated for 750# with a safety factor of 5. Weight of adding a wave runner isn't an issue but concerned about the performance of the boat given the extra weight on the back. Does anyone have experience with this on this type of boat? Thanks

There aren't many PWC's that weight less than 750 these days.

Im sure a Seadoo Spark would be OK, but nothing heavier.

That is exactly what I'm looking t due to the weight issue. It is a Sea Doo Spark with IBR. Should be around 450# (dry weight). Thanks

This (390/40MY) hull is already pretty ass-heavy as you probably know. The swim platform on mine, which is not extended, gets pretty wet while on plane. That said, I have seen lots of boats of this model with extended platforms with various small craft attached and have never heard of any seaworthiness issues. I imagine the only issue is the trade-off of fuel economy due to the drag created by the platform and PWC. It occurs to me that you might want to explore adding more trim tab surface area back there if you only have the stock tabs. Tabman over in the Bennett forum would, I'm sure, have some good advice for you on that.

If you're going to increase the size of your trim tabs you might also consider adding an extension of your hull running surface. I did that with mine and it provides a bit of additional lift. At that same time I also had the boat yard put on trim tab extensions that almost doubled the size of the factory tabs.
