For Sale : Spring for Lofrans Progress 1 Windlass

Purchased the spring in order to repair the windlass. The spring is under backorder status and therefore took a long time to arrive. Unfortunately, by the time it did arrive, Hurricane Matthew came and went. Boat has been totaled and therefore don't need the spring anymore.

This is part no. LWPPF007 from Imtra, the U.S. distributor for Lofrans products.

The part lists for $20.50 and is in short supply. If you are interested, e-mail me at msflynn03@gmail.com with an offer. Obviously don't need it anymore.

Thanks.

Steve

To anyone else that needs a spring for the Lofrans Progress 1 windlass, I can get them thru a local source here in Michigan. Email me at wellswa@yahoo.com

That's interesting. I ordered a spring this summer from Imtra & it arrived quickly. In speaking with the rep he intimated that plenty of the springs were available but the actual fingers were the problem. They were out of them & not going to have anymore produced. This, he said, was a decision made above his pay grade against the advice of the parts sales force. I guess if someone had a good finger & a 3D printer, they could manufacture some if it was worthwhile to do so.

WELLSWA, do you know if your local source stocks springs for the Lofrans Project 1000 windlass? IMTRA only sells in a 'pressure finger' kit ... to the tune of $113.

there are 2 verisons of the Progress 10000. a preee 2002 and a post 2002. they have differnt springs... but after looking i think both will work. the post 2002 is more money.

and I was told the same thing about the fingers not being made anymore only springs. Mine had a grove in it so we welded more material on it and then smoother it back out like new.

Just an FYI for anyone looking for just the spring for the Lofrans Project 1000. I purchased one online from Yacht Supply Depot for $18.50. The shipping at $13.25 was almost as expensive as the part :wow:.

I ended up paying a similar price with Imtra....the good news is the windlass works flawless now!

i replaced the spring, and welded the finger to eliminate the grove... and still has problems with the splice. Does this mean the wheel needs to be replaced? does tha bite harder?

Really I want all chain...

also on another note, they make a pre 2002 progress1000 and a Post. make sure you by the rigth parts.

Its quite worn, here is what I have:

Yeah, it looks about as bad as mine is. I really hate that alot of these parts aren't available anymore, considering how many of these windlasses Sea Ray used back in the mid-90's.
