Having a weird issue with my stereo. Usually after about an hour I lose 95% of the sound on my outside port speakers. Inside works on both sides and the rest of outside works plus the sub. I checked connections at both port outside speakers and no corrosion or issues there. Messed with fading and balancing , everything is centered. Could it be the amps? Or receiver?

what do the suspect speakers have in common with the other speakers and what do they NOT have in common. Approach it this this and you start to narrow things down.

An amp might be over heating?

I thought that might be happening too. I called sea ray and found where the amps should be. I'll need to remove some trim pieces to get there.

If you can switch the speaker wires from the right to the left and left to right you might figure it out. If the port keeps working and the starboard fails then you will know that it is the amp or the output from the head unit to the amp. Try switching the leads from the head unit to the amp to find out for sure. Good luck!

It's doubtful that the speaker is the culprit. I'd look at the amp first.

I'm going to pull the trim pieces and look. This is the diagram I got from sea ray

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the little plastic wire protectors where the speaker wires connect to the power amp. A couple protectors slide down during heavy seas and the wires touched each other shorting them out temporarily...

So I was trying to pry that panel off tonight. No luck. I got one corner off and that was about it. I feel like I need a special tool or something. I don't want to damage the area... any suggestions?

Update here. I got the panel off. All connections were tight , no corrosion anywhere. I tried swapping rca inputs etc... didn't make a different to port side. There was even a rca noise eliminator box that I bypassed and that didn't make a difference either. What next?

So you have narrowed it down that one have the speakers driven by this amp are not playing? Next, swap the speaker leads and see if problem stays or moves.

I basically narrowed it down to its not looking like an amp problem. The amp powers 4 outside speakers plus the sub. The port side outside speakers are not working No matter what channel I moved them to. I reversed the left/right channels to see if it made a difference and it didn't. The starboard speakers could play on either channel so it's not the output. Then I took one port speaker down and hooked up another spare speaker I had and nothing. Now I'm thinking the that line of wire has an issue or it's the receiver.

or it's the receiver.

Swapping RCAs with working chnls eliminates this.
Swapping speaker leads at the amp eliminates the amp.
Swapping speakers eliminates the speakers.
Ohm the speaker leads at the amp. Should be able to measure 1 or 2 speakers connected per circuit.

Good info! So it is the amp... swapped speaker leads and one of the channels is not working. Going to replace amp this week.
