So let's hear about and see your cars.

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure the reception my unusual collection would get. Actually... I like to play Love Shack from my iPhone with an FM modulator when I drive the NYB. A little new tech, a little old.

Bart, those are scary close coincidences! The Imperial and Cordoba were very closely related, as you probably know. Similar tastes and similar ages. Sigh. But grew up on different continents.

Yeah, when Ford screws up, they really do it big time. Eventually, though, they did fix the LS V8's problem. The LS was basically Jaguar's S-Type platform and the V8 was Jag's AJ V8, but "decontented" to reduce costs for the US market. The AJ was a good engine for Jaguar, but the Ford version was awful until they fixed their cost reducing mistakes.

Frank - the Chrysler is just great! Love to see an old car like that still in such good shape. As I've gotten older I can appreciate the early 70's era land yachts. You just can't beat the ride of a car like that, like cruising down the highway on your living room couch. My Dad and Grandfather were Buick people - a couple of LeSabres, Park Avenue, a Centurion with a 455 (pulled our Correct Craft many miles with this one) and the best, was my Grandmothers 1965 Wildcat fastback - silver in perfect condition with 6k miles when we sold it in 1980. Dang, like the Chris Craft in my profile, if I could only have that one back! My Grandfather always bought two cars at a time, always Buicks, always a white for him and a silver one for my Grandmother - had a pair of Centurions, Wildcats and LesAbres while I was growing up.

So many memories of old chryslers,we cruised high school with a bunch of giant 4 door mopars. My dad bought a 66 continental with dead man doors and then a 2 door 75.
CJ Martin, I just went to replace our 2003 expedition (boat stuff truck) with a Colorado and they talked me into a Pretty optioned Silverado I couldn't resist.

It was nice to see another Mark VIII on the forum. I had posted some pics of the Mustang earlier, but I have been playing with a Mark VIII LSC restoration for a while now. This one is also a 1998, the last year made. I built a new automatic transmission over the winter, with enhanced fluid flow, valve body modifications (mild J-Mod), re-machined clutch drums for additional clutches, new bushings and bearings, etc. The engine I just finished recently, with upgraded timing chains and gears, coolant upgrades, stainless exhaust, etc. It's a mild, reliable package, perfect as my next daily driver.

I'm going to have to own an SL at some point in my life. Any body style, any engine. They've spoken to me since I was kid. I still remember my parents going out of town for a week and putting me with family friends who had a burgundy 450SL with a black conv top and the matching hardtop on a lift at ceiling in the garage. For several days she drove me to school in her red 1980 Cherokee Chief, which is another car I will eventually have to own. (think Grand Wagoneer, sans wood and way cooler) By Friday I had the nerve to ask to be driven to school in the Benz. She said sure, but she was distracted and missed the entrance to the front loop of the school. So instead of pulling up in front of everyone and climbing out an SL driven by the lady who ran the local marina, she dropped me off at the back doors at the entrance to the gym. No-one saw me. I'm still not over it.

You're a nut.

I'm still stalking Mustang, hoping to find her in the Lake Erie Islands. I plan to approach the new owners and say, "you don't know me, but I know your boat as well as you do and I'd like a tour please..."

She has a new name, which I believe is "I'll Have Another". Let me know if you find her!

LOL. I get it. I've always loved (most generations of) these. I'll make a recommendation though. Stay away from the 74-85 cars. The first 2 years were damn good, and pretty strong. Once the emissions controls got out of hand the cars suffered. Then in '81, the 380 was released, and that motor only made about 150hp in the SL, and until 83, has a single-row timing chain. The 84-85 cars were marginally better. 86-89, the 560 years. That's the car that made me realize that it wasn't just the US who could make a strong V8. Those things will lay down a patch if prodded. Also, the only difference among the 4 years of 560 production was the position of the 3rd brake light.

Oddly, despite buying and selling a good number of Euro cars over the years, I've never owned an SL. I'd like to find an 04-06 600 with the TT V12 to go along with the coupe my wife drives.

Agreed. I'm a huge 991 fan.

And I believe you're right.

I believe that's a 997.2.

Correct, its a 2009 997.2. I know some folks don't love the look of a Porsche. Obviously I don't agree. But even the ones that don't care for the look change their minds immediately after driving it. Nothing drives like a 911!
