I posted this to the FB group so some may have already seen it, but instead of buying the new runners from great lakes I decided to try them at home. $70 in fabric and a few hours of my time and I think they're coming out pretty good. Great lakes wanted $550 for the set I believe. The first few pictures have terrible lighting in our dining room but the one in the boat shows the lighter color better. The fabric medium weight 6-7.9oz sunbrella in "granite" The wrinkles are exaggerated in the installed pic as well, there are shadows on it. It lays pretty flat. The sewing machine is just a cheap home singer machine with the standard foot attachment and has no problem getting through the material. I made the binding by cutting 2" strips and following this as a guide: https://youtu.be/vbPLrzq9NMM

cool deal. I was commenting on it on Facebook. (My name is Harley)

looks good. to do all mine its goint to take like 4-5 yards i think... and thats over 120 in material and only 340 for them to make them.. so I am in debate ha

Thats a tougher decision. I couldn't believe how much ours were, not entirely sure why either. I think at your price I'd have them made, it definetly takes a while. But, making stuff is fun

agreed I like to do my own when I can for sure.

just another example of how each of us have differing opinions on things like this....

one of the first things I did when we bought our boat was remove the carpet protectors and the snaps......we (the Admiral and I) much prefer the look and feel of the carpet....if the carpet gets dirty I just clean it.....

what I have thought about doing is have new carpet inlays made with bound edges that just lay on top of the existing carpet....this way you could change the color and type of carpet without taking the original carpet up....then you can take the inlays out for cleaning as needed....

I actually have been trying to get the Teak Aquaweak that Coritian carpets sells but in the carpet runners pattern, that way the cockpit, and cabin will all flow and look the same.

But the people with the patterns of the carpet runners (Great Lake Boat Tops), wont share the pattern and dont do carpet..... and the People with the cockpit patterns and carpets dont have the pattern.. I am sure I will get it worked out when time, Probably going to send my carpet runners to the people to use aas a pattern.. and then order it all at once. think it woul dbe super nice.

I'd be interested in how this turns out....post pics if you move forward....personally I would rethink using the carpet protector as a template....it is very thin and can be stretched out of shape easily....you can purchase template kits and make your own templates relatively easily.....I have done it before....

yea thats the other option just use their template making thing and do it, BUT the runners are not all flat. it has to bend when the flor changes from the main to the aft cabin.

i think the final result would look sick, be washable, and feel good.

I was coming here to comment the same with templating. Use a material similar to the link below that won't stretch or rack.

I have made a few interior mats from Infinity Woven PVC for 340DAs.

Hey Quint4, how did you attach the Infiniti to the steps? Dare I ask because like the cockpit, if my wife sees this I'll be out yet more money :)

It is snapped on. The pic is before the snaps got installed. SS snap studs screwed into step thread.

Yep thats awesome. exactly the look I would be going for, and then the same in cockpit.

That is actually my boat and I used Velcro on the steps. Wanted to avoid stepping on snaps. I used industrial Velcro and is working very well! Installed about 1 year ago. JP
