480 DB Owners Club

I assumed they were friction like the ones on my old Dancer but I pried hard on the one behind the couch. One side is somewhat loose but the other seems anchored somehow. Worst case, I'll cut the fabric and re-cover them if it comes to that.

Anyone know the model Sealand Vacuflush on 2003 model? Went to de-winterize water system and when I energized both heads they both would not keep water in the bowl. They leaked out under vacuum. I excersised the ball a bunch of times to get them to seal, but no luck. I let both of them sit with water in the bowl without the system engergized. Eventually the master state room one kept a seal even under vacuum. Not sure if the black rubber seals swell back up again? Both had gone dry with no antifreeze left in the bowls. The guest head will not keep water in the bowl. Anyone know the part number for the rubber seal that mates up witht the plastic ball to keep water in the bowl? Thanks, Dave

Thanks. Did locate through Seacoast out in LI. Recommended replacing both the seal (part 385311462) and while in there do the ball kit (part 385318162). Ordered sets of two for both heads. Should be a fun Saturday afternoon.

I've not done the ball kit, but the seals are easy. One bolt loosens the cover around the base. The base is held on by a one bolt v clamp. The bowl lifts straight up; pull the water line out of its rubber gasket on the bowl. Lift off the old seals. Install the thicker foam seal and the teflon seal on top of it. Reverse the procedure to reinstall the bowl. It was not a nasty job at all...

Thanks for the insight. Figured I would do the ball kit while in there, but may make a game day decision and skip it, if it looks all good. thanks.

I thought i was going to need to until i took it to a local guy to diagnose, he told me that because of all of the bends etc in these subzero freezers that they tend to lose their 134a over time. Quick recharge put my back to life and working great... BTW he said they dont like to be turned off... not sure how to keep it running all winter...lol

Robert, If I can make a suggestion....... We just replaced both our refrig. and freezer with "pull-out" style units mfg. by Summit. It was a great choice for us. Personally, the swing door for an under the counter is not nearly as easy to use as the pull out drawers. Open the drawer and everything is accessible. I went with a double drawer refrig. and a combo Refrig/freezer for the other unit. The freezer is plenty big since you can stack items easily. We use the refrig. above the freezer for drinks only. Added bonus I discovered is you can open the drawers without the fear of stuff falling out while underway. It seems as if we gained a lot more storage. Its a better use of the volume of space. Only thing I'm not happy with is the stainless steel finish on the refrig. is slightly different than the one on the combo unit. Why they make two different finishes is beyond me. I believe the double drawer freezer matches the double drawer refrig. After a lot of research and trying to find this style to fit within the existing opening dimensions, Summit seemed to work best.

We also replaced both units with Summitt units except we went with the single units with bar towel holder handles. I do like and agree with Steve on the drawer advantages, our units have built in door locks for seas while underway we really haven't had problems with things falling out but I do like the drawers. I am constantly cleaning the fronts as the finish shows everything all in all I believe they are better than the Sub Zeros.

We have a Nuvarania DL 335 specs are 11"-2" x 5'-3" and 375 lbs w/o the motor. It takes up all of our integrated platform the 430 is 14' x 6' and weighs 540 w/o the motor our dinghy with the motor leaves us just enough room th make it through the cockpit door. I think the 430 at 14' and then a motor would really be wider than the beam of th big boat. I don't know your docking situation but that wouldn't work for us as we dock stern to between 2 poles.
if you have a hydraulic platform? Of course the weight isn't really an issue my boat can't tell if my dinghy approx(550lbs) is on there or not. Keep us updated

Yes we have the hydraulic platform and are side tied to the dock. My large concern is whether it would impact the performance of the boat. With 15'3" beam not sure if it would be out over the side or not. Thanks for the replies.

Twin Disc MG5114A oil temperature warning

My port Twin Disc MG5114A transmission is throwing an oil temperature warning as soon as I start the engine. The guage is bouncing from normal to high to low repeatedly. It stops and remains normal for a while, then starts misbehaving again for a minute or two, then goes back to normal. It occurs in neutral and at idle to 1900 RPMs while in gear. The transmission oil is at the right level and appears clear.

I'm guessing it's the sensor, but wanted to get the group's feedback as a sanity check.

I'd agree with you that it's probably a sensor given it kicks on immediately. Should be easy to test. Check the service manual to see if they have a guide to testing the sensor.
