what's the trick or maybe special attachment? i don't have anything skinny enough to get in there and suck out all the bugs and dirt there. don't know if i should squirt a hose up in there or not... 1996 sundancer 270.

I use the crevice attachment for vacuum. You could also wet down a cloth and use the end of a broom stick handle to maneuver it along the base area. They also make windshield cleaning tools which can help get the glass area clean down there as well

Bed, Bath and Beyond sells cleaning tools on sticks with swivel joints. Micro fiber cloths fit on them and work well.

Scrubby bubbles and the garden hose. I've done it only a few times over the years. I don't like forcing water into that area because of the horror stories if not sealed. Let me tell you about how much crap comes outta that crack when you hose it though!!
Most of the time scrubby bubbles with paper towels and a paint stick to force it down in there is my routine. Plan on cleaning the windshield after of course!

Just did this yesterday with a shop vac and crevice tool.

I ended up going to the dollar store and buying what looks like a big tooth brush with about 2" bristles in the cleaning section. I brought it home and cut it with a hacksaw to about 3/4" wide... A little soap and water and then a rag on the end of a paint stir stick and it looks like new again.

A stiff paint brush, soap and water might work just as well
