I want to replace my mattress's on my 480 DB both forward and port. I am looking at Handcraft mattress company. They are the OEM and i have bought in the past. There are several models from OEM 6" to system III, system IV, system V. All the system 3 thru 6 come in thickness of 7" to 9.5". Is there enough room for the higher mattress? Any experience with these mattress's

I am going thru the same thing. I just can't get my head around $3,000 for a mattress. So one option we are looking at is a firm foam at 5" thick and a 2" memory foam topper. We have this topper on all the beds in the house and its very comfortable. Just not sure about the foam firmness.... so we are trying to figure that out.

Foam is about $400 .. topper is $100

Another option for a mattress is this place above we looked at ...they take your choice of a tempurpedic mattress and customize it to fit your boat. So the idea is you can try out the mattress before committing to the cut charge.

The OEM Co in NJ makes mattresses for Sea Ray and custom also, stated they use "Gel foam" it stays cooler than regular memory foam. Just thought It could give you options.

We're going though this process now also. Just dragged the master HCM mattress home last weekend and will use Verlo Mattress because they are local. I'm concerned about spending thousands and ending up with the same back aches.

Anybody's experience on material and thickness is appreciated.

Try marine mattress.com they are local and have been making custom mattresses for 20 years. Cost is a buck

We just went with one of the 3 inch Gel toppers. There not cheap though. You can find them on sale time to time also. They could be cut to any size if you need also. I used an electric knife and it came out great. I can tell you I get the best sleep on it. It's cool and my back feels great when I wake up. Bought one for the house too.

Did you cut it to fit directly on top of your old mattress?

Yes, Put it right on top. People can't believe how comfortable it is. Just wrap the sheet around both. It looks like a big mattress..

Our local bed store sells different grade gel foam mattresses. Order one large enough, and cut to fit with electric knife. This way you can try before you buy.

We replaced our mattress last year with a memory foam/gel mattress. We took the old mattress and laid it over the memory foam and used an electric knife to cut it. It was a 6" mattress I believe and was still not comfortable enough so we put our 3" topper back on and it is pretty nice to sleep on. It does make it a bit tighter when in bed as the ceiling is a bit closer now but I need my comfort!

Had a custom mattress made for the master - pocket sprung with integrated topper - like sleeping on a cloud now. Was cost neutral - what the mattress cost me, I saved on chiro fees

2 inch memory gel foam for the pullout bed.

I bought I think the 9.5" from HMY in Fort Lauderdale, for a little over $3,000. Great service. I was so excited they sent me pics of it as it was being built. Absolutely the best $3,000 I ever spent on this boat. It's like sleeping on a cloud. I am not sure if everyone will see the following as a plus, but now my wife prefers sleeping on the boat than at home.

We have different boats. In our 410da, we can sit up, but that's it. I will try to find the info on the exact mattress we got. I remember the sales guy saying, owners of 100'+ yachts get the one I got for their master stateroom, but they go cheapper in the other sleeping quarters.

We had our interior re-done and the decorators glued a gel topper to the OEM mattress, then covered the bonded mattresses with new material. Great result.
