Now I am looking at a Carver

BBC, I owned a 40 silverton convertible,23,000 lbs with 454 crusaders. The hulls are very similar to the carvers.I have had that boat in 12-14 fters and it wasnt fun but it wouldnt be fun on any boat on lake erie. There are quite a few of those in the lake huron waters and bay city area and i have talked to a few owners that all loved thier boats.I would say look at one closer to home if you get the opportunity before the 4 hr drive.
Can't seem to find one closer. The one I am looking at is on up north. There is one advertised at Skipper buds bay city, but that one is not there. Everything I am getting is there is 6 foot 5 inch head room in all cabins. The master bed is at least 6'3" long. Cock pit area is small compared to the 37 Silverton I have on my list, but transom door and a lower deck would make it alot easier to get on the boat from the dock. This Carver has everything I want in my next boat unlike my buddys Silverton. Built in air conditioning, Genny, EFI engines, And Windlass. Also newer electronics. 2006 new Flow scan, Radar, gps, and bonus autopilot. Ship shore radio that I can use unlike the 1987 silverton. In the pic the interior doesn't look like it needs work either. I could see some possible canvas work, last that was changed was 06 but I can do that now. I just need to get up there to see it between the kids swimming lessons and the bad weather, then see if he will take my offer or he thinks I will come up after I see it.

Sorry its taken so long to respond, Holiday events are in full swing.

I can't comment on personal experience with the headroom as I'm vertically challenged at 5'7" but when on board these Voyagers I am nowhere even close to the ceiling. My father is 6'2" and has no problem in my 370 Motoryacht anywhere walking through the boat. There is a lot to offer on these boats, I would never discount a boat purely on brand alone.

Does the boat you are looking at have the ice maker / wetbar area in the cockpit? That was an option and for better or worse made the cockpit feel smaller.

I went and looked at the Carver last weekend and put in an offer today. We will see what happens. Head room is no issue for me at 6 foot 1 inch.
