Diabetes (Type 2), any advise?

So I watched that video. Please run from that quickly. I could give a hour long lecture on how far off this is starting with if you have no insulin you gain weight. Type 1 diabetics do not produce insulin as the pancreas does not function properly...they are typically stinky as they are releasing sugar through the urine. Off my soap box.

I'm interested in what you think of his other videos on the subject (e.g. insulin resistance, hypoglycemia, et cetera) and where it diverges from fact. Just for my own edification.

Sorry for hijacking.

I have not seen other videos. If I get some time, I will try to visit them.

So I watched the video again and his other videos. His explanation of things is off, but not to the point that it does not get the point across. What I have told those who asked is to eat tons of veggies (same as video). Ketosis for a T2 or type 2 is not a bad thing. It is really bad for type 1. Carbs are bad. Fruits can be bad as well. Protein is good. The difficulty for most people is the restrictive diet. I can help people with diet. Liver plays an important role as does insulin but he is wrong about how they work somewhat, but again his points are correct. T2 is caused by years of hyperinsulin trying to keep up with elevated blood glucose. Hence the insulin resistance, which is at a cellular level of adipose tissue not just the liver as he says.

I was diagnosed in March as "pre-diabetic" . I'm not exactly sure what that means. My non-fasting blood sugar at my annual physical was 120. my internist put me on 500mg of Metformin twice a day. I haven't been back since, but I have been trying to watch my sugar intake and get to the gym for about an hour, three to four times a week. Haven't really lost any weight but feel much more "in shape" than before the gym..

Never had any eyesight problems, other than mild reading glasses.

Probably should get back to the DR. to have blood sugar tested. Should it always be a fasting blood test?

Not too sure about the fasting blood test but I do mine in the morning mostly before I eat. If I do it in the evening it always reads 15-20 points up. Pre Diabetes is the warning that I never received, mind just arrived with all the bells and whistles! You too will have to keep an eye on carb and sugar intake etc., but not as much as I have to. My MD did not give me any medication for it, just diet and exercise. Good luck!
