All,

Im looking for advise on how to get into Bunces Pass from the Gulf. The chart clearly shows a path.

When I'm at the big red arrow, I'm in 2.5 feet of water and kissing the bottom, not 4 like the chart says. Has the channel moved, and is there a way in? I was at low tide when I tried.

Try the WebApp on your smart phone. Might help you locate some better intel. Looks like there's some skinny water right before the entrance to the pass.

420,

I'll try that, but looks very similar to my Bluechart on my iPad. The Bluechart and the Garmin chart plotter showed the exact same thing... both showed good water and it was not passible.

Suspect over time that channel has moved, so looking for local knowledge where someone has actually navigated it.

But thx, I'll check out the WebApp

Bunces Pass moves almost on a monthly basis.... strong currents and shifting sands from the "beach re-nourishment" projects to the North make the charts obsolete. I have run the pass many times on my 44, but only do it only mid day when the sun is high to identify the depth by the water color. Ideally, do it at high tide as well. Even with that, expect shallow depths no more than 5 or 6 feet, usually less.

Seevee, did you go to Bunces Pass?

We went to the Riviera Dunes Marina for the weekend of 9/16 thru 9/18. It was great. Stopped by Egmont Key for the return trip on Sunday. Nice beach and water there. Griff4.
