who here uses it? I have only ever used seafoam but this costs substantially less... anyone have experience with it?

Use at every fill up. Does the trick for me. I would use the Seafoam as more of a annual/bi-annual cleaner rather than at every fill up, but that's just me.

Our yacht club sells Valvtec 89 octane 10% ethanol. Never add anything even over the winter. Never had a problem leaving tanks 1/2 to 2/3 full.

I use it. No issues and it's really cheap on Amazon w prime or Walmart. About half of what west marine charges.

I use it during the winter when I don't run the boat every week. Also use it in the Waverunner when I winterize. Never had a problem with bad gas.

When comparing prices, be sure you're comparing apples to apples. The "real" marine formula treats 16 gallons per ounce.

That's weird. When I first tried it, it worked properly. Now it doesn't.

Go to the advanced search button, top right of the screen. Enter "startron" and select "titles only". A couple of good threads with a bunch of responses come up. You'd probably get hundreds of threads if you only select "entire posts".

i have been using it this year but thats because i have been using pump fuel from the local gas station (E-10)

Yes. Neither marina where I've been slipped has had ethanol-free fuel. I did the recommended double-dose treatment on the fuel already in the tanks when I purchased the boat, and regular dose with every fuel addition since. I've used both concentrations (1 oz/16 gal and 1 oz/8 gal) and have experienced no noticeable difference in engine performance between them.

The formulas are exactly the same. The difference is in cost. You would think that the 1:8 (I think there's even a 1:6) version would be half the cost of the 1:16 version, for the same size bottle. But... nope. Typically - at least from the prices that I've seen at Walmart, hardware stores, etc - the 1:8 is only a couple bucks cheaper. FYI, you can also use the diesel version - 32:1 - and less expensive per ounce, still.

Your earlier post about the "real" marine formula made me wonder if you had some insider information that I was missing!

I tend to buy it at Walmart so pick up whichever is in stock at whichever store I'm visiting when I remember we need it! (Note to self: it's time for more StarTron again.....)

Best bang for your buck... I remember that tip.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, no difference in effectiveness - just the dilution ratio.

I've just started using it and used the diesel version as its twice the concentration and also cheaper than the gas version here in Australia.

I run only land-based gas. I always fill up on the way home and use startron. Double dose when winterizing, tank full of gas, and never had any issue. In fact, I usually put more than the recommended dose in.

Started using it religiously when the E10 nonsense first hit the market. That was with my 1989 340DB with 7.4s. At every fillup, add the appropriate dosage, usually erring on the side of overdosing. Use it with this boat in the same fashion. No problems, and it's got to be close to 10 years now, btwn both boats.
