I am replacing the original LG TV on the Cabin Bulkhead with a new LCD tv. I have removed the old TV. The power cord for the old tv is one of these.

The other end of the plug goes thru the edge of the padding on the bulkhead and I can't see where it ends up, yet! I don't know if it is a regular plug end and goes to an outlet or if it goes directly to the electric panel into a breaker switch.

My new TV has its power cord hard connected into the TV. I have the plug end to plug in somewhere.

My question is, can I just cut the existing power cord on the bulkhead and the power cord from the new tv and splice the wires together?? Any other thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks - Mark

Probably not the best idea but shouldn't cause any problems if the splice is done correctly.

I doubt the TV was hard wired into the breaker panel. There's an outlet somewhere back there behind the bulkhead padding you mentioned. A way to test would be to turn the original TV on and then go to your breaker panel and shut off the "Outlets" breaker and see if the TV powers off.
