What's the opinion of moving from this 20000 340 gasser to a 2005 400 gasser?

We are Ga lake boaters. But I hear it is a mistake to go with gasser on a 400. It is underpowered and fought on the resale.

Would you do the upgrade from a 2000 340? The 340 has been a great boat.

I have a 2001 Sea Ray 410 Sundancer with gassers. LOVE the boat and how it performs. Fuel economy sucks, but it's a boat. As for resale... I have mine for sale now and have received offers for well more than I paid for it. I'm in Great Lakes and gassers are more "tolerable" here.

Are you looking to stay on Allatoona? I don't think there is any diesel on the lake. No knowledge of the 400 with gas but just wanted to point out that may be the only option if you want to upgrade on that lake.

I only ask so that I can learn....

What makes it more tolerable?

I guess my first and biggest question is this: You boat on a lake that's only a couple of miles long. Aren't you going to find that a 400 is a bit of overkill for that lake? Also, what is your motivation for considering a change?

I'm hoping to move up to a 380 +/- in the near (hopefully) future. I'd be doing it for the extra space in the cabin primarily, but also the extra room in the cockpit. Doors and 2 crappers in the cabin are also bonuses. I have a dock mate with a 2000 400 and it feels like an entirely different world. If I don't convince the wife to go with a Viking it'll be a larger Sundancer for sure...

While not the largest of lakes, it is just over 30 miles long. Plenty of room for the larger boats. Hundreds of 50+ houseboats and 40+ cruisers here.
