I have a 1987 390 EC. Im having a issue with the forward air conditioning system. Last night while i was sleeping it basically stopped working. The breaker never tripped on the main panel but the fan is not blowing, the compressor is not running and the weird part that i hope will help someone give me a clue is the orange light that normally turns on when the compressor turns on is staying on. Even with the knob in start mode the orange light is lit up and again nothing from the fan or the compressor. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

do you have water flow through that unit?
There is nothing happening with that unit, the orange light on the panel is lit up on start mode and run mode but the unit itself isnt making a single noise not even trying to turn on. No fan no compressor nothing!
but the aft unit is working normally and my water flow through the two thru hulls is normal.

Check the red 8-pin power connector. My forward a/c had one pin that heated and stopped making a connection, with the same results you described. I was able to bend it back, but the unit now needs a new fan motor. I also had the main cabin a/c crap out with the same symptoms. On that one, most of the pins looked bad, and i replaced the whole thing with butt splices.

Please keep in mind this is 120 volts AC, not 12vdc, so if you're not comfortable or experienced with working on that kind of power, it's best to find someone who is to help.

When you say red 8 pin connector, is that on the back of the three knob control panel or is it on top of the unit itself?

I checked all the connections, they all look good, loosened and re tightned them to be safe but no luck, same symptoms, red light is on during start and run and no activity from the unit itself
On top of the unit.
