fender repair......

Seriously? You can afford a boat , gas , Insurance but can't afford a new fender. I have to buy a new one every 5 years with the traffic on this river. That's life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think the discussion was ever about affording a fender, but more about the viability of his proposed fix. Most of us here enjoy coming up with solutions, additions, or ways to tinker on our boats. Money often doesn't enter into it.

you might want to read the original post a little closer.....I mentioned it was not about the money for new fenders....luckily I can afford to buy new fenders but if I can save the current ones with a reasonable repair that works and looks decent and cost a fraction of the cost why not try it?....

I'd scrap the whole dam boat out if a fender went flat, why buy a new fender when you can get a new 45 DA already equipped with new fenders.

You either pay for it and know that you paid for it, or pay for it and don't know that you paid for it. My 11th grade Economics teacher always said "TINSTAAFL". :smt001

IMHA it would cost more in time and wasted money to TRY to repair one. 100% chance it would fail. I myself have much better things to do on the boat than wasting my time on that!

I was thinking "fix-a-Flat" - but expandable foam might be better...

That's exactly what I was thinking (fix a flat) aka Elephant Snot. The only thing you would have to do is probably inflate it a little and then shake it up or better yet just roll it on the ground like you're rolling a ball down the pier. After enough time has passed, dunk it in the water and see if it's leaking.

That's my Red Neck thinking :smt038
