All,

Occasionally we go out and spend the night somewhere in the Pinellas County area on the west side from Ft. DeSoto to Tarpon Springs.

Wouldn't mind meeting up with other Sea Ray owners occasionally.

Some of our favorites that are fun and easy:
Caladesi Island
Three Rookers
Shell Key (but hard for a good anchorages now)
Egmont Key

Sometimes just an evening... do dinner on the boat, watch the sun go down. Do breakfast on the boat in the morning and head home.

Sometime we hang for the day or so, splash in the water, walk on an island, bring water toys like windsurfer, etc.

Anyone interested?

Planning one for Thursday evening hanging on the hook at Ft Desoto on the west side of the camping area. Probably head over to Gulfport in the morning for a late breakfast.

We have a 280 Dancer for these trips.

Hi Seevee: Let us know when you are heading out. We won't stay overnight, but would stay for the day. Griff4

Griff4 and all,

Heading out to be at Ft. Desoto around 4 or 5pm tomorrow. Say hi if you're there. Will monitor 16. We are "Finally"

SeeVee: Nice to hear of others looking to form a flotilla! Love the spots you mentioned. I'm in Marine Max is South Pasadena with my "Southern Comfort II". We too are looking for fellow travelers to go boating and beaching. Let me know the next time you venture out. Share you profile? I'm retired FF/PM from Madeira Beach FD.
PS Just noted dates on prev posts......are you still out there?

You know SeeVee's post is 3 years old, right?

Yes, after looking back I noticed he must have run aground somewhere. Thanks for the heads-up.

Hi Mc Kinley. We are out of St Pete Beach and are interested in the same spots that you mentioned. Have stayed for weekends at Twin Dolphins, Riviera Dunes, Caladisi, Sarasota Hyatt, Magnison's, Tampa Marriott, and Useppa Island. Our summer day spots are either Shell Key (on the Gulf side), or Egmont. Usual dining at The Sea Dog, the Warf, Sea Critters, O'Maddeys, The Pub, or The Legion 273. Let us know when you are going out and we may be able to join in. Griff

overnight Caladesi sounds good.. plugged in at the park... plan a weekend...

Good Morning Griff: That sounds really good. I'll be in touch with you soon.

I just stayed at the vinoy, and at Tampa marriot waterside this weekend. We frequently go the Bunces Pass (between shell key and Ft Desoto), current is “interesting”, but we typically throw out both anchors to keep the stern towards the shore. It’s always well protected from the wind. My wife’s a tax accountant, so she is slammed right now (and she just skipped half Saturday, all day Sunday, and most of Monday, so she is a bit behind!), but in general, we can join in as well.

Glad I found this thread. I keep my boat in Tarpon and haven’t yet made it south of Downtown Dunedin. I like the to idea of venturing a little further for a meet-up.

Hey Todd, we usually are at Shell Key. On the Gulf side, several hundred yards south of the Pass a Grille inlet. We found the tide current sometimes interesting at Bunces Pass. But on the Shell Key coastline there is no tidal current, only the ups and downs of the tide. Our pals with a classic old Carver Santigo are usually anchored near us. Griff

And there are real Ipswich fried clams at O'Maddy's restaurant in Gulfport! They have Gulfport's municipal floating docks nearby. A fun luncheon trip!

Gulfport floating dock open again? Was there little over month ago and had some damage after storm and they closed it “until repairs completed”

No, one end of the dock is taped off with orange tape. I can only guess that the dept of public works has put the dock on the back burner. Too bad. We want the Ipswich fried clams at O'Maddy's restaurant on Thursdays. On weekends, there are boats circling and waiting to get in there!
