Hello all. Recently purchased a 2002 Bow Rider 200 from a good friend that took immaculate care of this boat and always garaged. 275 Hours when purchased. Just got back from a camping trip where the boat was left in the water for a couple of days. The automatic bilge would run every 3-4 hours so it sounds like a decent leak. Has anyone else dealt with this and where is a good point to start looking? The speedometer and transducer look fine, maybe the outboard seal??? How hard is the repair? Thanks in advance.

Every 3-4 hours is a pretty good leak. It could be a number of things, but the first thing I would look into is the shift cable bellow. Best thing you can do is dry everything up, then put the boat in the water and observe. With a leak that "leaky", it should be pretty easy to find. You can look at the bellows (google it) from the outside of the boat. How hard is the repair? (1) it depends on what is actually leaking and (2) it depends on your skill set. Can't answer #1 because we're not there to do the leak-finding and can't answer #2 because, well, we're not you! :smt001

Assuming that you have a Bravo III here. Take a look at the slot where the steering arm of the drive comes through the transom. There is a swivel shaft in there that the drive pivots on as you turn the wheel. There is a cheesy little rubber seal in there that goes bad and leaks. Just poke your finger in that slot and feel around. I just had mine fixed this year. Prior to that I was getting a couple of gallons in the bilge every few hours.

Well you guys were right. I believe it's the exhaust bellow that has disconnected. Now the trick is getting back on. Bellows.JPG

The exhaust bellows "shouldn't" cause a leak into the boat (the other two can). But if that is the bellow that is causing the leak, then something else is disconnected or torn on the inside.

Yeah... That one shouldn't cause the problem. I've seen boats without them installed at all.

Ya, after thinking about it I was wondering how that would cause the leak. Off to search again.

I was able to get the exhaust bellows reattached. Filled the bilge with water and.............it's the speedo. Any ideas on repairing one? How do I even get to it?!
