2002 340 Sundancer.....8.1L motors....broke a pulley on Friday at the lake...center came right out of it...had to limo,back to the slip on the port motor and put her in there...that was fun. :grin:

Anybody ever have that happen?

I had water pump pulley and shaft walk out of pump. Destroyed belt and required new water pump.

I believe that's how it usually happens...bearing seizes up and walks the shaft out.....my guy said "never seen a pulley break before"....think I'll call Mercruiser and thank em.

My 7.4L had a plastic pulley. It cracked, through the belt & I had to "limp back in" behind a Boat US tow boat.

I pulled the entire pump took it home & pressed a new metal one on it.

Yeah this one is steel...center came right out of it...like the weld broke free.
