Last Saturday I had been running for about 40 min and hit some close packed waves. The 2nd wave hit hard. About 2 min later I get an "engine rpm limited" warning. Backed down rpms and proceeded to dock. Came out from dinner, restarted and ran 50 min with no warning. Ran the next day with no warnings either. Did a little research and read that this can happen as a jolt can jiggle the connection. That said made me feel better but wondering if I should investigate further and is so... Where and what

You may have had cavitation on one engine which would produce this warning....meaning one engine gained RPMs for an unexplained reason. IMO I wouldn't be concerned unless it occurs again....

Thanks for the input. Have put around 10 hours run time on it without incident.

Nothing to worry about. I don't think it was a loose harness, rather cavatation from air between the close waves getting caught in the prop. Hence, the rpms race with little water friction. You may have experienced this with a dingy and outboard turning really fast and hard. The motor screams until it catches water and looses the air bubble.
