My Standard GX2320S is a counter sunk (not flush mount) unit and i would like to replace it.
It has a slightly angled face because of the dash angle.
I will soon be upgrading all my electronics and want my vhf to be nmea2000 compatible.
I intend to buy garmin GPS/radar but the radio does not need to be Garmin specifically.
Honestly I know anything about marine electronics and would like a few recommendations on a countersunk type VHF that offers excellent value and reliability. I see units with GPS built in but I don't see why I want to pay any extra for that. Is that something that just comes along with it because it has a distress "location finder" button?
I do like the "find a buddy option" since I can use that to locate my kids when they have the handheld.
Sorry to be completely blind here but I really need some assistance.
My boat is a 1998 330DA

If you want NEMA 2000 connection I would recommend that you install a Garmin VHF. You will need to install a Garmin network for the radar and GPS. Just makes everything so easy if you stay with one manufacturer. After you install the Garmin network everything else is pretty much plug and play. You will still need to run power supplies and network cables for your radar and GPS, and VHF, but no splicing of wires to connect all of your electronics.

What about the face angle issue i have? my vhf is dash mounted low and facing straight back. I will need a angled face like my Standard vhf has. Is there a mount plate that can angle the face upward a little?
btw I do like the Garmin 200 unit. I also like the 300 but im afraid my kids will drop that expensive mic. Its also far more expensive.

Do you have the remote mount units in the US yet? All controls on the mic., so you can hide the box where ever you want

Yes but with all controls in the mic I am afraid it would be at great risk of damage (must be heavy). I have kids and lots of party traffic.

Wish I could give you some help with the angled mount. Can you use a piece of starboard to make a plate that will help with the angle?
