Official 240 Sundancer Thread

Very cool Sea Jay62. I always enjoy staying on my boat.
I bet you don't have any power issues having a 6.3 383ci mag motor in your boat. Nice
How did the bollard install go?

Mike, the bollard install was reasonably easy, no damage to the roof lining, and the 383 seems to push her along ok, although it may be over propped at 24p. It hasn't been calm enough to do a good accurate WOT run

I have a 2006 240 Sundancer with a Bravo III running a 20 pitch... This is what was on the boat when I purchased it.... Anyone have the same boat with a5.0L MPI... Let me know what pitch you are running and what performance you are achieving.... Mine is very slow out of the hole with a full load aboard... Once on plane I need to run around 3500 RPM to stay there with 4 or more people on board.... thanks....

Hey, yesterday I have had a test run after a half year storage. With 5 adults I managed a speed of 62 Km a hour. I use a 22 pitch prop.
But when I am full loaded with about 6-7 adults I have also a little trouble to go on plane. So I am looking at the new 4 blade/3blade props.

gr Marco

i have the 20 pitch mercury props on my 5.0 mpi. it tops out at about 37-39 mph ( 59 - 62 kmh ) gps at 4500 -4800 rpm . i have no issue to bring it on plane with 6 adults. 3500 rpm as minimum plane is correct.

Hull redesign for 06. More deadrise = needs more horsepower. The 5.0 makes 260hp BUT, at a high rpm and doesn't really help hole shot and cruise holding speeds.
Apparently, the 06 hull rides in rough water much better, but the trade off is weird handling characteristics. I can attest to the rough handling ability of the 06 and newer hull, as I run my boat in the ocean...and the weird handling characteristics because I even find myself hitting the trim tab buttons at anchor! haha Not really, I'm kidding about that.

Same performance here... 5.0MPI/III/22P Full tanks, two adults, 61 kmh...

Wondering why is the difference in prop setup between the 2004 / 2006 model?

what is your rpm at 61 kmh with 22 pitch props ? we should both have the 2.2:1 drive ratio.

Well received zero responses to my very first post so thanks to all I am out of here

Oh hey, sorry about that....but dang, that gets your goat? I guess your used to people patting you on the head everytime you say something?
Don't go away mad, maybe just go away if your that sensitive.

Perhaps he thought this was Facebook and wanted some "likes"

Thanks a lot for all your positive comments. Don't need pats or trophies - just thought this would be a good place to get to know some folks with similar interests.
Common courtesy would have been nice but instead...you that responded with smart mouth comments should be really proud of yourselves.

Gr1634, there is now 172 pages on the 240, and you said that since you did not get a timely reply you were out of here. We were just giving you a hard time. Sorry we did not meet your specific requirements.

welcome GR, I hope your enjoying your DA240. I have found with getting in and out of the pens ok if there is no wind, but a pain when its windy. We had our first decent rain at 7am here since I had tightened few things up to fix some leaks, bolted out to the boat on the tailer in my driveway in my jocks to check and seems 98% better, neighbours had a laugh :)

Perspectives, you started with the smart mouth comments. Don't come here threating and wanting swift responses just because you are you.
Did you post anything in the Newby section? Did you post anything in the who's who section? Did you post anything anywhere to say, "hi, new member here....." nope. Just jump right in and act like a long timer. Well, you got treated like a long timer. Say something of value, and people will respond.
Don't come here with your sour attitude, and start complaining. Look at yourself, before pouting and declaring your going to leave with your marbles if no one will talk to you. What, are you in 3rd grade?

Maybe a do over is in order. Try it again. Maybe try it the right way to start. Maybe you won't get the negative responses then.

I know what you mean about the wind. We went out late Friday and it took me two tries to get her back in the slip..but I did it. Will take a bit of practice but we'll get there.
Put two DampEx bags in her Friday and went up again Sunday and the dampEx seems to really work well keeping the humidity under control in the cabin. Probably something folks who have had cruisers for a while already knew but I am learning and no doubt will be for quite a while. Thanks for the welcome.

I spent an hour resealing the bow rail bolts with silicone, with the help of my 13 yr old son, hopefully that will stop the rain leaking into the cabin :)

Uh oh, I just realized that this is exactly what I did when I joined the forum nearly two years ago. I was so excited about finding a forum with a group of people that enjoy their boats as much as I do, that I forgot the basics.

Perhaps I'll take a step back and post an introduction in the who's who. Better late than never I guess.
