Good Surveyor in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale

Does anyone have experience with any of the many marine surveyors in the Miami/ Ft. Lauderdale area? We are planning to make an offer on a 2006 400DA, and need a good surveyor for the pre-purchase inspection.

Kurt Merolla Yacht & Boat Surveyors, Inc. did our boat Gimme Time which was named Black Jack when we bought her in July/Aug 2007.


Kurt owns a Sea Ray himself as I verbally interviewed and requested a copy from each surveyor I spoke with a copy of a boat they had done so I could see the type of paper work I could expect from them. All but one of the six I spoke with did and I chose Kurt.


You're welcome to call me with any question that I might answer as I have no financial interest or relationship with any of them.


If I were to purchase another boat I would highly consider the additional cost to have him travel and go wherever the boat was located.

I used Capt. John Campbell to survey a boat for me out of Hollywood Florida. I was not able to attend the survey and he did an outstanding job with a full photo package and report sent to me. He was very thorough and sent pictures of every little ding that could be a concern. I never had an issue with that boat and he was reasonably priced. He also was very open to responding to my emails on unrelated issues without expecting additional compensation. I would highly recommend him!
