A friend uses this on props and trim tabs and it works great. Paint stays on and no growth. Think I might try it. He uses it as anti fouling for props and tabs. Any issues doing this?

I use it on all underwater metals, works pretty good..

Started using it two years ago and works very well for me on my props and shafts.

Thanks. I'll try it. Gonna use Trilux 33 on drives but wonder why no one uses barnacle barrier on outdrives.

Used it this past season for the first time on shafts and props and zero growth. Works very well in New England waters.

Diver just recently told me to use Rustoleum Cold Galvanizing Compound on my props instead of the Petit. Same stuff (93% zinc) at less than $6 a can. So I used it.

Applying zinc to aluminum outdrives can be a problem.

This is interesting. If you apply additional zinc coating to your props, shafts, etc does this change the amount of useable zinc that is on your boat? In other words, you transom, shaft (if you have them) tabs zincs are there to protect you underwater metals from corrosion. To little and the metal wears, to much zinc and your metals also wear. So my questions is, if you applied a zinc coatings to the metals underwater, how did you determine that you did not now place your boat in a 'too much zinc' category or does it not work that way with zinc paint?

Most aluminum safe bottom paint is zinc based. Might be a different zinc compound, but still zinc. I doubt it will negatively affect an aluminum drive, but I do not think I would be the experiment to find out.

Zinc is one thing but Pettit paint with copper and the other 'cides is something else.

Zinc is for galvanic corrosion prevention and the Pettit is for marine growth.

I'll grab it. West marine 50.00 off 300.00 this weekend and they match defender so I'll buy all my paints.
