Does anyone have any experience with Pro Nautic charges and the way they hande warranties. I had guest chargers on my 340 and after 10 years those guys completely replaced my charger when it went bad. Probably one of the best experiences that I ever had getting something warrantied.

This pro Nautic is the 2430 and I don't have the purchase date or paperwork from purchase. It was on the boat when I bought it. This charger is going nuts and trying to either catch fire or blow up my batteries. I can't find a manufacture date on the unit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a great experience with pro Nautic. Says that because it is 5 years old, they no longer repair or warranty them. He said parts are no longer available. Sounds a little crazy to me that they didn't even ask for a manufacturers date or what it was doing. He did however offer me a deal on a new 2430 charger that he says lists for $900.00. He offered it to me for $490.00 plus shipping and as soon as I said that I would shop that price he dropped to $475.00 including shipping.

I am going to price it through Port Supply. I have a feeling that I can get it cheaper through them. I also may get rid of both my chargers and put guest chargers in. The customer service I received from them was outstanding especially compared to Pro Nautic.

After checking internet pricing the $475.00 is not a great deal. Thanks for brand loyalty....Not

Doesn't appear to be. I removed the charger on Sunday morning and the voltage is down to 24.55v. I will have to test all four this coming weekend.

I just had a 4 years old xantrex go bad on me. Problem was I just installed a remote panel that wouldn't match a new xantrex charger. I put a nasty note on their website and the guy called me and offered a new charger for cost and gave me the shipping and a new remote panel.

How could I go wrong? I took the deal.

BTW they don't fix crap anymore throw away.

I had a 15 year old Charles Alternator Regulator acting up, Charles repaired it for free after 15 years. I have 2 of them on my boat and the second one was also acting up a year later, cost $150 to fix but they fixed it, no problem. Look into them as well.

I called Pro Mariner back again and still no help. They said they have no parts for them and sold me a replacement for $475.00 and I added the monitor. (Not sure why I did that) however, not a very friendly guy and they certainly do not stand behind there products. A five year old charger should still be able to be repaired. I can have a 5 year old tv repaired, even a five year old fridge you can still gets parts for.

Keep in mind, Guest does not make a charger that has a power supply mode, and they do NOT recommend using their chargers on boats that have / use a 12v house load on a regular basis.

I'm surprised to hear your experience with PM, Steve. I'm certainly not downplaying your experience, but I would offer that that is not the "norm" with them. They are usually very helpful people. I've referred MANY people to them and have even personally called upon their expertise to help diagnose a problem I was having with a 17-year old unit - always with positive reviews. Again, this is not to make light of your experience in any way.

Thanks Lazy, I don't consider it downplaying my experience at all. I am sure that others have had great experiences with them in the past. Unfortunately, I must have caught them on a bad day...well bad two days and it was the same guy.
As most of you know, I am in the Customer Service business with being a Home Builder, Marina Owner and now a Freedom Boat Club Owner. You are not always going to be your best...not always going to make everyone happy. However...I think I would even had been happy had he said he was sorry that the charger went bad...even a sigh would have been nice. A little diagnosis effort or how about you send it in and we have our tech look at it but you are going to have to pay for it or buy this one and send your other one in and we will take a look at it and see if it is worth fixing so you have a spare. But to say we don't have any parts for a 5-6 year old charger and we don't fix them...that was a little tough to swallow and makes me wonder if this new one breaks down in 5 or six years, will they be able to repair it or should I just throw it out.

I agree that I would like (expect) to at least get some type of service for a 6 year old product. A few years ago, they walked through a test process to see if it was, indeed, the charger that was boiling one of my batteries. Or, at least, as you said, maybe send it in and let them take a look at it and THEN say "it's not repairable". I seem to recall that they used to have a repair service, even for older machines... but I guess this is the way the world is going - becoming a throw away society. Heck, my wife just wanted to do the same thing to our dryer since it would stop mid-cycle and not turn on again. Her thought was "It's an old machine, just get a new one". $104 later and about 1 hour of my time... works like new.

Funny, though... I was going to say the same thing about a guy having a bad day... twice! It's not an excuse - but at least it would be a reason.

I had a really good experience with Pro Mariner. I called tech support regarding an error message, they asked me to do a few things, resulting in a known issue. Removed it, sent it back, came back repaired quickly and is still working fine (knock on wood). Their tech support was also very helpful when I was picking out the right model based on my application and in support of my plan to upgrade battery size.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience, but hope its not one shared by many here.

PS - Jim / BOE had an excellent price on them when I purchased... always good to check with them in your shopping.

Boy, they didn't even ask me what I was running for batteries, how many banks I had, absolutely nothing about my boat. I guess that they just figured that they would sell me the replacement for what I had.

Keep in mind, Guest does not make a charger that has a power supply mode, and they do NOT recommend using their chargers on boats that have / use a 12v house load on a regular basis.

My boat came with a guest 2631a 10/10/10 charger and I have a 12V house load and use it on a regular basis. WTF would Marine Max install that charge if it wouldn't support a house load. That was a rhetorical question by the way. I always wondered why I have a 10 amp charger when I can easily draw 30 amps of 12v power. I guess I know now. But in actuality I haven't had any problems an have used the boat almost every weekend for three years.

Mine came with a Guest as well, but I really only have a fridge and a few lights for a house load. When I was having issues, I called and spoke with Guest. They were clear that is was not suited for that application, and even went as far as to recommend a competitive brand and model that was correct for an application with a house load. I too found it fascinating that SR/ Marine Max used a Guest model on mine, but I figured I was on the cusp with such a small potential need for a house load.

btw, they said because there is no 12v supply mode, every time I used the house load, the charger would start all over in the charging cycle effectively cooking my battery.

.......... I can have a 5 year old tv repaired, .

Don't be so sure about that! :) I'm in the commercial audio/video business and 95% of the time, if a client has a 5 year old TV that's having problems, it's way cheaper for us to replace it! Nobody seems to do actual repairs on anything anymore. The closest they come is swapping parts until they find the one that fixes the problem. Sad, but true!
