Drunk. High. And a sea ray (Multi-page thread 1 2)

Hey, there are a few of us that are on both CSR and THT!

It was a joke.... I have nothing in common with them and I don't care what they post over there. It's pretty funny though, how they stereotype Sea Ray owners yet they've created a stereotype for themselves as being arrogant, sarcastic, rednecks.

I really think all you need to know about the intelligence level of some on THT can be surmised in the post of the bright boy who decided to post a picture of the Mensa's that crashed their boat into a restaurant in St. Pete.

"Stupid sea ray drivers"

Well sorry but....

A) It was a center console fishboat
B) It was a 'SeaVee'

Remember some people are put on this earth to be used a a reference point as to where you sit on the Darwin evolutionary scale.

Southbay on THT sure sounds like a lot of fun.........not

What isn't said or realized is that to the fishing boat crowd, ALL cruisers are Sea Rays to them. Look around, only a Sea Ray owner can really tell the difference. Hell, sometimes I can't tell what boat is pulling into a cove.

Sometimes I fit the mold, sometimes I don't.

Excellent point above about Sea Ray being a generic term to some. My Dad was a Trawler guy for years doing 1,100 miles in the the ditch (ICW) each Spring and Fall. He told me that Trawler people refer to planing pleasure craft as either "Sportfishes" or "Sea Rays". "Sportfishes" are anything that is a convertible type boat, i.e. Viking, Ocean, Egg, certain Hatts, etc.; and "Sea Rays" are everything else. Both are capable of egregious offenses, which in Trawler world equates to not calling on the radio to offer a slow pass. They hate that. Damn Sport fishes! Damn Sea Rays! Insert fist shaking icon here.

I'm 51 and own a dancer...when the dock parties get too loud we just turn keys and go hang with the quiet blowboaters
just gotta watch (or not watch) out for thier skinny dipping tendencies

I've heard that too, and the other type of Hatts are the catch-all for nearly all pilothouse motoryachts.

Hmmmm, I wonder what they would say if I posted a pic of my 330 Sundancer that was hit and totaled by a BUI in a Bayliner.

I confused.... I'm 33 and from Long Island... Love my Sundancer... On my 3rd one...
What does this make me??

You asked for it! Lol I'll give my real response after I finish reading

I want to start off by giving you guys the real reason there are so many searays around
THEY LAST
All those guys over there are just jelouse that we can actually resell our 20-30 year old boats and still get a decent number on them.

Now that being said. I fit there stereotype perfectly lol
First boat
99 yamaha lx2000 jet boat
First boat purchased at 18.
Bright lights, loud music, didn't know what anything less then wot was nor did I know what a marker was but drawing 3 inches who cared. (Remember doing 55 mph looking over and noticed a seagull standing ankle deep about a foot away) anyway I was very young, did alot of stupid things made alot of dumb decisions and to b honest I should have been put in jail 90% of the time I was out.
Sold that 5 years later
Purchased a 99 270 da
Started to learn the values of boating, navigating and being a captain (understanding your responsible for the lives of the people onboard) I definetly calmed down alot but definetly not enough. I was 23 years old with a beautfull "big" boat that all the girls wanted to b on. Who was better then me. Again loud music brought lights not a care about who i was bothering .Well sandy came and took her.
Next spring I purchased my current 1998 330ec. Never ran a twin screw, was very intimidated by her size. Learned fairly quickly how to manage her and after being so careful and responsible for a month I went right back to my partying ways. That carried on for a while until I got the baby news. All the partying came to a quick abrupt halt. Now I have something to lose. May I add at this point I was starting to hang out with the csr gang more and more. (There older, more responsible, more mature ect ect ) I was learning value, responsibility, basically how it is to be a responsible boater. Well to say the least 3 weeks later (surprise!!!) I'm a daddy. I grew up very fast. Boating was a whole different world now. It was a family affair now. Not go out and c how many women I can pick up and how many drinks I can hold down. Although fun, at times, this is way better. Now I'm an older (not age but mindset) boater that hangs out with the crowd that has there family on board, stays responsible and safe and still knows how to have fun! And I love it.
My point being it's not the boat nor the manufacturer nor the size or the style. It's the operator and the crew. It's the education and the mindset of the operator. And yes age probably has a big factor but not always. If my baby didn't come along I would probably still be boating the way I use. And I would still be in that stereotype. And if it wasn't for his website I would probably still be very ill educated in the world of boating. And if it wasn't for searay this website wouldn't be here and if it wasn't for searay building there boats so well I probably wouldn't own a boat because I can't afford anything newer then what I have now
I've been typing this on and off now for 3 hours and lost my train of thought so I quit!

Is winter over yet? !

I'm 64 and I have a Sundancer....I wish I could listen to loud music and have babes in bikini's all over my boat !!! LOL

Where I live, blue lights, techno music, girls in bikinis and generators are the norm!

All you big boat guys, whether SeaRay or other brand, are compensating for something!
Thats why i have a medium to small boat.... no need for compensation

Never looked at THT always short on time but will take a look and perhaps stir them up a bit if they don't like SeaRay. We have most the same stuff as Scott and use our boat for the same purpose but don't think we fit their profile either.

Ahhh no. Ever priced out a 34 Yellowfin or Contender? Especially one that has all the electronics on it, expensive and they hold their value much better than a SeaRay. Problem with SeaRay is exactly what has been said here, so many of them drives the price way down. Neighbor is trying to sell his 34 Sundancer and the prices his broker keeps telling him it is not worth taking the huge hit. Just to many for sale. Some of these CC start at over $500,000.
