.40 caliber Sig Saurer

FirstClass my father would be very happy with your son. As both the engineer for NASA and his love of gunsmithing he took many a .308's and rebuilt them to fit a need for a shooter. I love the suppressor.

i did pick up a new handgun this weekend. .44 1860 Colt Army original, all matching serial numbers even in the grips. I found it in a yard sale.

Aaron- I've been really impressed with my Beretta PX4 Storm (full size). A little big for CC, but I carry with a shoulder rig under a coat. Smooth, reliable (only about 5,000 rounds so far) and nominal kick. My goto piece of a few 9's. For a little bling / salt environment protection go with the Inox version.

My my next piece will be the KAC SR15 - a little different tool...

Anyone have any CZ firearms? I have a CZ 85 (ambidextrous for this lefty) 9mm and I like it over my Sig.
Mike

Original or original replica?

Original. Matching serial numbers.

i did give her $100 more than what she wanted for it, even after that I felt really guilty about it. But she was happy and it's on my wall with my Colt Dragon and pocket Colt. Great part is no one has tried to clean it up and she has a great aged look. She shows very little wear with no damaged screws.

These are very fine holsters, N28 Tactical Inside the waist band and you can tuck a shirt tail over it. Complete trigger cover and locks weapon in, I believe this is quite important for carrying weapon chambered, get the Kydec model (hardened plastic like trigger cover). I believe the Kydec models are called their professional model.

I have a 380 bodyguard, what a piece of junk. I have tried various ammo to try and find something that will not jam on ejection. Also suffers from light strikes. Many people are having the same problem and I would not trust that gun as a concealed weapon. I want something I know is going to work every time. I carry a Glock 27. You pull the trigger, it goes bang, every single time.

Well I love the size of the bodyguard, but you are correct about it being a piece of junk. I took mine to the range for the first time yesterday and I absolutely hate this gun. While I had none of the issues you noted, the trigger pull is way too long and very hard to adjust too. I found myself pulling way left as I pulled the trigger due to the long stroke and my constant need to reposition my finger pull. Also the built in laser is 8" higher than the projectile at 20'. This might be due to the distance from the target and would certainly change as the target distance increased or decreased. I shot about 50 rounds through the gun with no issues but as I stated I hate this gun ! I purchased it based on feedback from a detective friend of mine that thinks it is a great canceled carry weapon. I am going to trade this thing in on another gun first thing Monday.

Depending on what your after, maybe an assault rifle under a trench coat may be more effective in these troubled times

Look at the XDS. Both of mine are tack drivers.

Sig P938 9MM, small enough to carry in pants/shorts pocket which is all I ever want to wear the rest of my life in it's Blackhawk Size 2 sleeve. The few times I've felt like carrying even lighter I go with the 380 in the same sleeve.

Don't leave home without it and it goes where I go or I don't go there. Those states that don't offer CC reciprocity I do everything I can not to spend a dam dime in them. I stop and buy gas before I cross their state line or make sure I have enough to get through them with what I have. Boat fuel mileage doesn't afford me the same options all the time but that's the goal.

Would like to recommend all others whom agree consider making the same type of effort against those states that don't respect our commitment to safety concerns.

a couple of my kids took the utah permit course. i think they said with that and the PA permit they can carry in something like 37 states. that may be wrong as i'm just pulling that number from my feeble memory bank

What's an assault rifle? Could you describe one? Picture maybe?

Any of you looking at the Ruger LCP 380? I am split between the Bodyguard and LCP, but seeing your reviews makes me thing twice about the S&W.

I was just looking at these yesterday btw.....LOL..

I have the LCP... nice compact, concealable pistol. Problem is, not very accurate (for me anyway) and they have a long hard, double action trigger pull (which affects accuracy). I have since purchased a Glock 42 .380... although larger in size, great gun! I am much more accurate with it. The Bodyguard is much the same as the LCP.

My KelTec P3AT has the same problem with trigger pull and accuracy. Also, IMHO, the 380 doesn't have the stopping power or range to be effective in anything but a face to face confrontation. Past 10 or so yards, the 380 with a very short barrel is good for making noise and thats about it. I am looking for a single stack 9mm to replace the P3AT as my carry. Presently the Walther CCP is at the top of the list but I have not fired one yet.

I am looking for something to keep in my front pocket, the LCP and Bodyguard seemed to be the ticket for a larger caliber than .22. My Ruger P944 40S&W is a monster. I'd need to wear baggy jeans with my underpants showing to pocket that thing.....not my style.

I'm not a big fan of 380 for self-defense and strongly recommend against really small pistols for self-defense.

The 380 is marginal when it comes to bullet performance. 9mm is a far superior choice. In fact, with today's modern high performance hollow point ammunition, there is very little difference in performance between 9mm, .40, and .45. Caliber becomes irrelevant when it comes to getting stops, it is all shot placement, shot placement, shot placement.

The problem with really small guns for self defense is that you can only get two to 2.5 (if you are lucky) fingers on the grip. One of those fingers is your trigger finger so you are essentially holding the gun with one plus maybe a half finger. Pull the trigger, and recoil will change the position of the gun in your hand. Now before you can take a follow up shot, you have to reestablish your grip on the gun.

About 15 years ago one of my instructors said that if you are ever in a life or death situation and you need to grab a gun, grab a handful of gun. That quote has stuck with me and is truly outstanding advice.

As far as single stack 9mm, my personal favorite is the S&W Shield, this coming from a Glock guy. Kahr makes a high quality gun but I don't like the long trigger reset it has (my personal preference). I also have a KelTec PF9. Shooting it side by side with the Shield and there is no comparison. The KelTec has a really bad trigger and beats up my hand. The Shield has a great trigger and feels like the slide is riding on butter. With the Shield I can put multiple follow up shots on target with .22 second splits. I bow my head to the engineers at Smith&Wesson for being able to reduce felt recoil so much.

A quick thought on concealing a firearm. Everybody is deathly afraid they will be made if they are carrying a gun and tend to go with a smaller gun to reduce its footprint. Newsflash: The sheep around you are so involved in their own little worlds, they are barely aware of your presence. Don't sweat it, and for godsakes, don't keep touching your gun or tugging on your cover garment.

Whatever you do, try before you buy.
