Gimme Time is in Mobil, AL after +-4,200nm from Deltaville, VA on the Chesapeake Bay heading on down to Key West for the winter. My wife wasn't told till 3 weeks before we left that was what I had planned. Some people just worry to much and shouldn't have any more notice than needs to be. Her first comment after I told her was "I'm not sure I like you that much" after we have been together for 20+ years! I then told her it would make us or break us. She cried on her girlfriends shoulders, whined to anyone whom would listen then finally asked me the week before we left if she could take a girlfriend with us. What could I say but sure.

Six days later in NY city she asked me if we could put her GF on the train home and get her -$$ out of here. Now after 5 months she's ready to stay on the boat and not go home. Four friends we've made since Canada traveling on their own boats have finished the Loop. Two from Nashville whom spent two years on the trip had rented their home out returned to Nashville only to decide they weren't ready to stop the life style and headed back South last Thursday.

The other couple whom finished are back in Atlanta are having tremendous withdraws returning to flat seas! If you're beginning to get the picture now, figure out when you are going to do this and get started!
 
AJ, your not kidding! We both wish we were still out there. We did the "top part" of the trip this year thinking it would be a way to get our feet wet without going all in at once.
As it turned out, It s such a simpler, easier lifestyle, can't wait to pick it up again next year. When her friends ask how did we get along so close after both being apart so much for so long, (working too much and traveling on business) she says it's easy to be around happy people.
Keep posting your progress, We like to follow along.

I am looking for a dinette table like the one in the picture. Anyone know where I would look? I have tried Great Lakes Skipper.

We're new to the Club and to this thread, and looking forward to being part of the group. We've had our 1999 420AC only a few weeks, and enjoying her very much already. We're trying to decide what furniture to put on the aft deck. We're thinking of something along the lines of a wicker love seat with a chair and maybe a small table or two. Does anyone have a setup that they really like?

We have the Sea Ray bench seat and use two folding chairs. The folding chairs help for separating our boys for "time out." The bench seat becomes the best place to take a nap or so it seems. We also have a TV on the back.

GT has the bench seat as well since it provides additional storage room you always need. We have two teak folding chairs with cushions that have worked well since there are times they go on the dock for doctails as well.

Any one found a magic way to keep the rear deck below floor storage area dry ?

i figured it was never intended to be an area that was kept dry since they put a bilge pump in there. I keep extra fenders and a few floats in there.
 
Thanks for the input on deck furniture. We're still looking, but have some ideas now.

Here's another newbie question: How do you replace the screens on the little oval portlights? My local Sea Ray dealer researched the question and told me that the screens on my vintage boat (1999) are on frames that just pop out of the rubber gasket. I've looked at mine over and over again, and I just don't see that. I swear it looks like I'm going to have to remove the metal frame to get to the screens. Any experience or advice out there?

I need a ladder to my engine room. I need to install cameras in my engine room to the bridge recommendation. Where is the air horn pump located on my 2001 aft cabin? Where is the best place to install a bar b q ?

I have two solar panels on My 420 AC 2001 powering my refrigeration . The cut in the carpet to the engine room needs to be on all. Bad omission on sea ray.

Dave, welcome to the club.

For or tge ladder, I do not think anybody has one. I sit on the floor and swing my feet in and step down on the cover in front of the generator. To get out I step up on the port engine cover.

My bbq grill is mounted inside the "patio" so we can still grill if it's raining.

As as for the air horn, make sure to download all of the manuals. It will show the placement and wiring of most things.

I have a 2000 340 currently. Looking at the next move, and this fits the program. My issue with the 340 is a general lack of room to maintain the systems, its brutal. The bilge pumps require the mufflers, batteries and battery deck to be removed. That's an example. I like doing my own work mostly. How are your boats to work on?
Next, I love the 340, but the forward bed is unbearable. Im 6'2 290, and I need a real cushion.

Had Gimme Time since 2007 and shes been a great boat for our first one. I'm 6'1 around 245 on a good day and have no issues with height and the rear master state room is hard to beat. I and a friend of mine do most all the work on our two boats ourselves with no problems for access. That doesn't mean there aren't some harder areas than others but it all is doable as I'm currently 61 and not as young as I was when I started on GT.

I installed Nuteak on all the decks including the teak & holly version on the salon floor which we love over the carpet. This makes engine room access a breeze and the easier you can access something the more often you'll check everything that needs to be checked. We kept the carpet in the staterooms but did away with it everywhere else. We left home May 28th of last year doing the Great Loop trip. Presently spending the winter in Key West before heading north to home in April. The wife was very concerned about the trip and whined to her girl friends about leaving for a year. After the first week we were in New York City she finally said can we put her girl friends ass on the train headed home and now she is ready to leave aboard pretty much full time.

Were negoicating on on a larger boat now whom is interested in taking GT in on trade in but if you're interested you can probably pick her up at a good price direct before we make the trade. I can assure you and you could see from the pictures if interested you want find a better boat with all the upgrades that have been since we purchased send me a PM if interested or for that matter anyone whom might be interested.

Hi Bud,

We have the same complaints, seems the bed in the 360 was made for someone 5'8 or under lol. I've been drooling over the 42/44 for quite a while now myself.

Just in the research phase now. We love the 340's speed and ease of use. Need bigger once we have more time to spend on the water. Last kid off to college this spring, closing on the finish line.

Oh I'm the same Bud, just researching now also I still have a while yet. But the best part is by the time I'm ready the prices of the 2005 and all the upgrades and replacements will be done on the ones that are on the market LOL.
 
Thanks for the welcome. Fastened a telescope ladder to aft deck aluminum cross support and swing it aft strapping it out of the way. I am going to mount a swim platform post on port side. Found the horn pump.
Have a rain water leak at the foot of the closet door on port side at the bottom by the foot of the fold out chair. I can see it dripping when I remove the inspection plates top and bottom in the aft cabin closet by the stairs, but I can't get to it from above through the upper helm bulkhead inspection holes.
