I'm also waiting to hear from Mark.

Hey Art,

Steve and I are looking at 12-1pm ETA. I'll try getting there earlier, but I have to take care few things in the morning.

Looking forward meeting you.

Art,

We'll be monitoring CH68. What's your boat name (I don't see it in the sig.)?

Alex, it looks like you might arrive 1st. You are probably aware that Lake Boca is very shallow at the south end and it will be low tide at noon. I suggest follow the magenta line and picking a spot the north end.

See ya Sat.

Thanks for the tip, Art. I've been there few times and know exactly what you mean. We usually go to the north/west corner.

Dang it, of course I wont be here this weekend! Im taking the boat across to the west coast Saturday but hopefully can get together with everyone soon

We had a great time at the FLIBS, where we have connected with number of friends. Dinner at Shooters (overlooking FTL ICW) was a lot of fun.

It’s time for boating weekend in the beautiful sunshine state.Lines are untied and we’re off to Lace Boca for the weekend. We had two options, jump outside from Port Everglades inlet or stay inside and enjoy the scenery. It was an easy choice, we love ICW in this area, and thus site seeing was on the agenda. Our route takes us right by the FLIBS, which was spread out among several marinas along ICW.

Besides the fact that the area was highly patrolled, CG installed few extra buoys (12A, B, C and D) making the channel next to Bahia Mar very narrow.

It’s a bit hard to judge, but as the motor yacht Sea Start makes the pass by R”12”, there’s no room for passing vessels. Despite the restricted room navigating the congested areas, the ride is very enjoyable and scenic. Those who haven’t done it, I highly recommend to do the ICW run, especially at night.

Being on a bridge boat with 23’ air draft (mine is higher than a factory specs, due to satellite dome on dual mount), I had to open 4-5 bridges. As we passed through Camino Real bridge we enter Lake Boca, where a raft of 3 bridge (“Odyssey”, “Justifiable” and “Retreat”) has already formed.

Just a little while after we have settled and jumped in for a swim, Jonathan said “look at those hooligans in a sundeck”. I didn’t think much of it at the first glance, but as the boat got a bit closer, all of a sudden I see our CSR Northeast gang (Larry, Joe, Greg and Coleen, Vinny and Pablo). Apparently, when I extended an invite for taking the ICW cruise on Inspiration, they all gave me a story on having prior arranged commitments, while they already had planned on making a surprise visit to our Lake Boca Rendezvous. Very well done, guys! That was a well-executed surprise visit.

Too bad the rental had to be returned before dinner. So, we had to say goodbye to our surprise-guests. Soon after we proceeded on planned adventure, docking Randy’s and Steve’s boats at “Odyssey Resort and Marina” (aka Randy’s home), and go to dinner cruise on Inspiration to Deck 84.

We enjoy our night cruise to the restaurant, dock the boat, get settled and start ordering appetizers. All of a sudden, guess who shows up with another surprise visit? Yup, it’s our CSR Northeast gang….Ha-ha….The Party is on!!!... Long story short, we all went on the night cruise on Inspiration and ended up at Randy’s place for a fun evening.

We’re greeted by a beautiful morning in Delray Beach.

Looking at these pics it’s easy to judge that “Odyssey Resort and Marina” has room for few more boats. So, we need to work on filling the vacant spots.

Next day we had scheduled events to attend at Delray Beach food and wine festival.

Too bad the weekend is way too short, so we have to head back to our port. Since it takes couple hours in mostly no-wake ICW stretch, we were looking forward for night site-seeing of the “American Venice”, especially in the FLIBS area.

After hot summer months, the primary boating season in Southeast has just begun. Those that are local or those who will be in the area, don’t miss our future rendezvous.

Here’s a link to our next trip: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/74941-New-Year-in-Key-West
Pretty soon I’ll be starting a thread on the Bahamas trip during spring break.

P.S. we had interesting discussion on future trip to Eleuthera Bahamas, and that’s when Randy mentioned about one harbor (I forgot the name at the moment) which requires hiring a local pilot to operate your boat, as it’s very tricky to get through narrow not marked rocky area. The next I get this pic from Steve.

LOL……

We had an awesome time and enjoyed the company of our friends. I’m looking forward to our next rendezvous.

Cheers,
Alex

Looks like a great time was had by all Alex - sorry we had to fly out sat AM, but it was great to see you at shooters. Looking forward to the keys!......The place in Eleuthera is called Devils Backbone

Alex.
Thank you so very much for letting me take the ride down the icw to boca bay with you! Definetly very glad I did. And another big thank you to the admiral for being so very accommodating as usual!
Loved meeting everybody that showed up as well. (I'm terrible with names so I won't even bother) but everybody was an absolute pleasure!
Great times with great people! Couldn't ask for more!

I am sooooo Jealous. Considering my boat is about to be winterized, and having kept my boat at Bahia Mar a few winters ago, seeing these pics really got to me. I gotta figure out how to retire or semi-retire real soon to enjoy the beautiful weather and waters down south during our long cold winters. Looks like you guys had a great time. Good for you!
