I am new to this so don't yell. I am trying to find dash inserts for 88/89 390 EC. Anyone have any ideas?

I called Taylor made talked to Theresa to order Glazing vinyl for the windshield. Theresa informed me that i had to deal with a Sea Ray dealer they could no longer be ordered through her at Taylor. After calling a Sea Ray dealer I was informed that it would take 2 to 3 weeks to get the glazing vinyl. is there any where else it could be ordered from in order to be able to receive it quicker that you guys know of
?

I would start here:

Another question for you guys. I'm considering another 390 with gas engines. This one was repowere with marine power mpi 380 hp, but one is a 454 and the other is a 496. The story is that the owner did one and then the next year when he went to do the other they had discontinued the 454 so he went with the 496. The difference in power is supposedly only noticed at wot. Has anyone ever seen this done? It seems a bit odd, but I guess maybe it's not a big deal if they perform comparably? All opinions are welcome on this one. It's a 5 hour drive for me to go look at this one, so I want to avoid wasting my time as my luck hasn't been so great looking at boats this year.

Thanks again guys!

Just thinking out loud

the throtles probably wont be even
fuel burn is probsbly different and the synce gauge would probably be useless

I understand the throttles and fuel burn could be different but why would the sync gauge be off? I could see if the props are different that the rpm would be different to actually be balanced, but assuming props are the same, shouldn't 3000 rpm be 3000 rpm regardless of the engine?

Duh that's probably what you mean by useless assuming the props were individually matched to engines instead of to each other

The engines would be making horsepower at different rpms
just tossing numbers out their
tge 7.4 might make 280 hp at 3200 rpm

the 496 might make 310 at 3200 rpm.

I've been trying to locate some torque curves for these engines, so far with no luck. I'd love to see how they compare, but the Marine Power site doesn't have much info at all about anything they're not currently selling.

do u have the listing?

what does the owner say?

the last listing I shared here disappeared like an hour later.... oh well here goes nothing.
http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/198...2755153/Norfolk/VA/United-States#.VehEV_lVhBc

the broker says the following:

"The major negative to the boat if it is one, is it was re powered guessing around 199-2001 time frame. The starboard was replaced first with a 380 HP 7.4 multi port fuel injected Marine Power engine. Then, the next year, the port was replaced with same HP 8.1 Marine power multi port engine. This is vintage that GM switched to the newer 8.1 block and discontinued the 7.4 block. Not sure why they did this, but as a NEW motor, that was the availability at the time, and probably the better motor of the two as well. Positive is they are both higher HP than original, have better cooling systems & FWC aspects of them, while also when running, really not noticeable at any cruise speeds, and only time lot different torque curve wise is at higher end of things which essentially never run them at. "

Its a nice looking Boat

I hate that they removed the rear wrap around seats. Carpet in the bathroom thats going to be fun.

removed what seats? the ones behind the helm seat? those must have been optional. I've seen as many without them as with, and yes I would prefer if it did have them, but not a deal breaker.
