Looking at a few different 04 240SD boats. Some are listed with MM via brokerage. NADA low retail is 18K and these are listed at 23K. These boats are in good condition but need topside and hull compound and wax. Engines and Bravo 3 drives are in good shape. Assuming all of these boats are very similar. What would you be willing to pay? FYI- I just missed out on a cream puff 04 with trailer that sold for 18K privately.

18K seems low... I sold my '01 190 SD last year for 12K, it was in very good shape...

Sold my 04 240SD about 2 summers ago. Should have never sold it....now looking to get back into boating again.

Around here that sounds a little low. I've been looking at 240 Sundancers - 2004 -2006 and they run $28K - 35K depending on accessories, condition and hrs.

I paid $30k for an 05 and that was a good price. Trailer and gear included. I did a lot of shopping. Mine is in excellent shape and I was willing to pay for that. NADA on mine was $31,500

Would you reference NADA values? Average retail, low retail, etc?
Low retail on the 04 SD is 18,xxx. Most of these has asking prices of 23K.

Tempted to go and look at an 03 and 05 270 SD. 25K will get the 03 but the asking price on the 05, which is in incredible condition, is 34K.

Thinking 18K would be so easy but that 05 27 is very nice!

Need to be clear here; when the OP says "SD", does he mean Sundancer (DA), or Sundeck(SD)?

Don

In these parts, SD means sundeck to me. Also, he lists a 2004 Sundeck in his boat details.

Wrong....DA = Sundancer SD = Sundeck

I just sold my pontoon a few weeks ago. NADA trade said 11K. That's all the dealers would give me. I sold it for $27k. I now see who's side NADA is on.

Hopefully going to check out an 03 270 SD and then will make a decision and offer will be made by the weekend.

At this point it'll either be an 04 240 or 03 270.

I hope the 03 270 doesn't appear too dated. Wasn't it in 04 a new style came out?

I fully expect that if we get a 240 that we will be looking for a 270 in a few years.

This 03 even has the 496 engine.

Ah, the search continues. MM had a typo in their description of the one boat. I thought 50 hours was too good to be true, and a week later they come forward and let me know it's actually 450 hours. OUCH.

Still on the hunt, have looked at an 03 270 which was beat, an 03 240 which had all ripped cushions, etc., another 04 which has been in the yard for 2 years and needs a good compounding and wax and going to look at a private boat this weekend.

To date I'm 0/6.

450 hours is hardly something to be concerned about. If anything, the engine is probably in better internal shape than one 12 years old or so with 50 hours on it.

I'm not worried about the hours, but I know after going through 4 boats in the past 7 years that it's all about the resale value. It will be easier for me to sell a boat with 200hrs than 600hrs.

Wow...you haven't even bought your next boat yet and your already thinking about selling it.

I agree with this. I would be very worried about a 12 year old boat with 50 hours on it. Some things do better when used. 450 hours for that age boat is nothing!
