CSR Bahamas Rendezvous (Spring Break 2015)

I use "VIBER" and as well "WHATSAPP" you can trust both, and anyone you connect with have to install the app in order to communicate .
mainly we use whatsapp and it's might cost one dollar for the year.as long that you have internet via wifi or cell it works great.
I communicate with my friends and family all the the time...off course you can still use Facebook if you connected to the internet.

I never used Viber, but it sounds like it's very similar to Skype. Is there an advantage using Viber over Skype?

It's Very similar but skype might be better.
Like all apps it comes down to your Internet speed, so video calls most of the time are in very bad quality. Unless you have a very good Internet connection.
When I travel I use ''Whatsapp'' it's very good for sending pictures or short videos, and excellent for texting.

Randy,

Very interesting product. But, I can't find on their site anything about US distributors.

Hey guys,

I'd like to take a quick step back and look at overall picture. It seems like we have good draft on Plan A (Bahamas - Abacos). We know when we're going, we have good float plan and know where we're going. So, while we're reviewing necessary details, how about we start brainstorming about Plan B (in the event if crossing the gulf streem will be out of the question)?

Plan B = Anywhere in FL protected waters. It could be anywhere on the East coast (FTL, Miami, Upper Keys, etc.), or we can even cross over and go to the West coast. As long as we're within a reasonable distance to do it within 7-10 days.

Any ideas and/or preferences?

P.S.
I've updated first page with latest info on Plan A.

Just returned from a quick fishing trip to the Bahamas. Crossed Tueday came back on Thursday. Checked in at West End and Tuesday night went to the casino and shopping/dinner in Lucaya. It seems that the prices in Lucaya and the taxi ride have really increased. I think the vendor are using the new VAT tax to increase prices of the products or services they offer. For example, taxi ride from WE to Lucaya round trip used to be $120 but this time was $170. And the VAT does not get charged on fuel. So if someone at a marina says it does, it does not as we asked some government employees at lunch and the one lady was the person in WE that was in charge of the VAT taxes. Great trip, 5 wahoo (2 of them 50lb plus) and 7 dolphin (2 of them 25lb plus).

Ok, thought I would post a video of my trip to West End. I know this isn't a fishing forum and this is mostly fishing, ok all fishing, but just thought I would post for anyone that would like to take a look.

The catch was wahoo and dolphin (mahi mahi). For those that don't know what wahoo are, they are a fast 60MPH and they strike hard, have razor sharp teeth and are the whitest tastiest fish I know. IMO, better than mahi, grouper and even tuna (that can be argued). You can eat the meat sashimi, grilled, baked, fried (why would you though) pretty much anyway you want.

That's some successful fishing trip you had there, Tom. Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

It took a little while, but the tags have arrived. I have to ask a silly question, where you place the decals, right next to registration stickers or somewhere else?

Supposed to be at the 'entrance to the boat'. Some place it on the door into to cabin, some at the transom door. All of mine are in my house as they have never asked to see them but maybe this year I will put mine someplace on the boat. :)

I keep mine filed with all the other important paperwork in the boat. You only need it when you check back into the US

Nice video!

I was plotting my routes and happened to be in a situation where Garmin Blue Charts Mobile is way different from Navionics chart on my E120. I'm doing the leg from GGC to Hope Town. BCM has a magenta line (magnetic orientation) nicely hugging the shoreline, making it a nice shortcut.

I compare it with the Cruising Guide and see how it matches.

When I attempted to plot the same route on my E120, there's no "shortcut". The Navionics magenta line takes me away from the shore and then back, making a triangle type run.

I've purchased updated Navionics charts last fall. I refreshed the Navionics charts on my iPad. So, my conclusion is that Bahamas is where Navionics really falling behind.

Did anyone else experience this?

Since Garmin charts match the Cruising Guide, am I safe to assume that this is the valid route and I can follow it instead of the Navionics chart?

BTW, I just confirmed that Navionics Mobile charts show the same as on the Chartplotter.

Here's the close up pic.
