Folks, I'm looking to get some feedback on getting my 6Pack. I'm thinking of starting a small emergency towing boat and also it would be something to keep my mind busy.

The class looks pretty straight forward, but it's the medical testing that worries me. My heart and B/P issues are under control thru meds. Can anyone tell me if that would stop me from getting the Lic?

Not sure about the BP issues, but you will also need a towing endorsement

Towing endorsement is a must which means a six pack is useless. You need a Master's ticket. But same health issues remain. Try calling the USCG, they are usually very helpful with question like this.

No idea about high BP in this line of work but there are safe limits you can live with.
In the area of construction I was involved with we had full time nurse on site. If you went to see her for any reason your BP was checked and if not within normal limits you were not allowed to work or your work was changed to light duty. Idea was if you were using equipment that required a sound operator we had had one.
Based on what I have seen of tow boats in difficult positions it can be a demanding job. Water is not always calm and the sky is not always blue.
At one marina I was at for years there was a retired captain. He was out once in rough water when the CG put out a call for assistance in a rescue he said it was the law he assist because he was a captain. No idea if this is correct. Is it the same for tow boats.

Check in with Cap't Ron Getter @ True Courses in Dayton Ohio. He can most likely tell you. They're online 6 pack class was great, as I took it last winter and got my license this fall after a lengthy delay on my end due to some family issues and not realizing the drug test expires after 180 days lol....
