My 340 the headliner is falling the glue is giving way from the foam,

the material? I know ill never find the original, but close is find.

Last year I went nuts trying to find the headliner. I gave up and went with what is available. http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|5948|296197|309382&id=206609

Check out my website for the work that I did. Lots of knowledge gained. I had to do it because of leaks from the horn and windshield. Look under past projects and click on the 2011/2012 project page.

I'm not sure how severe the delamination is but if its only limited to small areas i would think you could use a small hypodermic needle to apply spray adhesive between the fabric and the foam. At least that's my plan to fix ours. I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to give it a shot unless I can come up with a better idea.

We just replaced ours in our 268 Sundancer. Not "hard work" but work for sure. Definitely a DIY job. We pulled down the old stuff, took down cabinets as needed but not the stuff that looked too complicated. Once it was all off we sanded the stuff that was left on with a palm sander. CAUTION.... you will itch for three days after. Wear as much protection as possible. The material we got from sailrite

cost us about $200. The stuff is super easy to work with.

The youtube video sums up the job. You will also need 3m spray adhesive. Its seen in the video.

Good luck and post pics for us.

Great job you two! Do you have any pics or pointers on what you did with the seems of the hulliner material?

Is this carpet style headliner nicer to install compared to the foam backed style?

One of my biggest problem has been getting good glue that won't come off a year later. Gets upsetting when you do all that work and the stuff just falling off later on.

Nothing special. Just keep it tight. You can kind of comb the area of the seam to make it blend

I used white cotton fleece rather than the plush when I redid mine. Also put a layer of foam in under it and made for insulation boat sound and temperature.

I have a 1999 Searay 340 Sundancer and the hull liner is sagging where the two parts come together. It appears the screws holding the panel up is pulled out of the ceiling hull. I was thinking about screwing chrome head screws with cupped washers. It concerns me that the thickness of the hull is to thin. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts.
Thanks,
Dennis

Ka1oxd, I have read your thread and visited your Projects Page, maybe you can provide me with some information.

Need some help. My headliner was stained from the horn and possibly windshield leak. Two weeks ago just had a new headliner installed, the horn had been removed and completely sealed up. This past Wednesday it rained a lot. Thanksgiving morning I found the Headliner soaked again.(I got sick when I seen it). I think it's coming from the windshield. I could not figure out how to remove the Soffit Unit above the Stove and counter, so I removed the blind and cut a hole for access above the blind. The blind will cover the hole. I suspect the lower corner of the windshield where the wiper wires go up thru to the windshield channel. I popped off the black moulding from the window channel near the deck, I poured water slowly into the channel, it went down very slowly, I probably put in 6 to 8 ounces of water. Went below, I could almost get my arm up the hole and reach the top, it seamed the whole area was bone dry. I can't figure out where the water went to. If I could remove the Soffit I may be able to locate the leak. Could you tell me how you removed your Soffit over the Stove?(Screws locations Etc.) I seen yours removed on your Projects Page.
At this point any suggestions or knowledge you can help me with will be appreciated.
I paid $2700.00 to have the headliner replaced. The installer is not responsible for the leak, I told him I fixed the leak when I removed and sealed off the horn, he waited to do the work until I finished.(I thought I fixed it!) I have been using Spot Shot and heat to dry up and clean the new staining. If I could get the leak stopped I think I salvage the headliner. Need your advice. Thanks

I have done a couple of things when I redid the headliner. I did get replacement gasket since mine was brittle. But when I did the headliner, I sealed everything. Once everything was down and repaired the windshield wipers wires that I cut by accident, I took the nozzle of the caulking tube and pumped it up from the bottom and from the top channel to make sure it was sealed. I also had excess wires on top so after I filled it with caulk, I pulled the wires down and added more caulk. I hope that helps!

Yep, had the same leaks on my 1989, also you might want to check the center hatch window they also leak, not in the boat, but into the headliner

Yup, I had the forward hatch hing break. I had to replace it and found some water was getting into the core material. This spring going to pop out the center hatch since I found some soft spots in the same area as the horns. I have a feeling that the core material is wet and going. So I am going try and build it up.
