Official 330/350 (2008 and newer) Thread

Thanks everyone for your imput. So, plug in all of the plugs, and I'll turn on all of the accessory switches. I'll give it a shot Sat. morning before the AC boat show. Those are the perfect place for those speakers. Now my 12 year old niece can play her "One Direction" band far from the cockpit. Now, the stupid TV....lol

I am wondering if the same accessory switches will allow the DVD to place sound through the speakers by the bed. The only sound is from the TV itself, and are very weak. tough to hear on the other side of the room. I saw a thread earlier about a blue tooth device that can assist in linking the stereo head unit to the audio output of the TV. This way i don't have to pull any wiring. However< I will still have to pull some panels down just to get to the back of the stereo and TV. That should be an adventure. I might as well put in a home theater system.....

Can anyone help me here - Went to the SR website could not find the info I was looking for. What year did the 330 DA get introduced?
Is the 330 DA a replacement of the earlier 320 model? Trying to compare a 2008 330DA with an 05-07 340 DA. Thoughts?

Has anyone had to replace cutlass bearings yet? I'm looking at having 1 side done, but wondering what the going rates are; and, should I have both sides done at the same time or not?

The biggest thing I saw was starting in 2008 the shift/throttle lever became one which helps.

Starting in 2010 SR made the model number match the length of the boat.

ie: 330 is 33', 350 is 35'

The 2008/2009 330 is actually 35'

To compare to older models you will need to look at length and beam. Look at the engines as well.
Also, in 2008 is when I believe SR starting going to DTS (Digital Throttle and Shift).

Was doing the same thing from a research standpoint. The admiral and I knew we wanted something in the mid-30 foot range for the new (to us) boat, and so we focused in on the mid 2000s 320/340 as well as the late 2000s 310/330/350. Obviously, we ended up with the late 2000s (2009) 330 and love what we got. I'd be happy to share any info I have as I did quite a bit of research and looking during the process.

To answer your questions the 08-09 330 is a "replacement" for the early 2000s 320, it is the same size. In 2010 they changed the designations so a 2010 350 is the same boat as an 08-09 330. The older 340 will give you more space and the "old" design. The newer 330 will give you a smaller boat overall, but you get the newer design (including the mini-hard top), as well as DTS.

Mine have 468 hours on them and no issues so far. How many hours do you have?

330 hours, 6 seasons. Had props pulled and reconditioned last year. But I didn't expect to need cutlass bearing replacements this soon. Does anyone know what kind of life expectancy should be? I would like to get a cutlass bearings for dummies education. Thanks, as always guys!

Has anyone removed the arch speaker covers? I noticed some mildew on one of them, and plan to remove and clean. But, I don't want to do any damage pulling them off. Also, what would you recommend cleaning them with? I was thinking bleach/water mixture.

I pulled mine off when I hauled the boat this year. We are just replacing the fabric so I can't really help with the cleaning part. The covers are held in with car door panel style clips so you gotta do a bit of tugging to get them off. If you have a set of panel pullers for car doors that will really help.

Sounds easy enough, thanks and great sig pic - that's one of the best angles of the boat in my opinion.

It was, and thanks!

Once I got over my fear of snapping the whole piece it was fairly easy. I started from the middle, since it gave me a bit more "flex" in the panel to work the tool underneath, then once the first clip was out the rest was easy as I had enough room to work and see behind the panel to find the exact location of each clip.

We decided to replace the fabric since we were never big fans of the white stuff... not sure exactly what to call it... kinda looks like a window screen that was slopped up with white paint. Anyway, we went with a sand/camel colored sunbrella fabric. Great for the UV/meldew/mold resistance plus the color gives more of a contrast with the white vinyl sections of the panels and compliments the sisal (type) carpets and beige color vinyl on the seats. Can't wait to get 'em back... should provide a nice "pop" to the cockpit.

That sounds like a really good idea, are you doing the covers for all 4 speakers, or only the arch? So, in the end you'll have 1 uniform fabric around the entire panel, isn't there a vinyl piping around the edge? Would like to see pics of the finished product.

I'm doing all 4 panels so all the fabric will match all around. I'm just changing the fabric part... the vinyl will be new as well since it was easier to go new than use the existing due to how it was glued and stitched together, but in the end where its white vinyl now will remain white vinyl. The piping does go around the panel, including the fabric part so that will remain as well.

I'll post up some pics when I get them back. They are done now, but the shop is by my marina which is an hour or so away, so I haven't made it out to pick them up yet.

I have a friend that is looking at a 2008 330 w/axius and 6.2s. He is concerned the 6.2s will not deliver the performance with such a heavy boat over the 8.1s. Can anyone chime in with experiences either way?

I have the 08 330 with 8.1's. My buddy had a 05 320 with 6.2's. Both were V drives. We both planed in similar times and were able to cruise at the same speed but his boat was running at higher rpm, was subsequently louder, and worked harder getting up on plane. The 320 is a bit smaller and lighter too. I personally would be a bit concerned but where does he boat and what type of boating does he do. Lake boating with a significant other would probably be ok. Ocean runs with 6 buddies may be a struggle.

All of it is in lake or river. We are on Old Hickory lake in Nashville area which has connections to Land Between the Lakes via the Cumberland river. There is a yearly pilgrimage we make every year up there. He does like to go fast at times and that is what has raised his concerns.

If he wants fast, the Sea Core BIII stern drives on the '08 330 DA might be the propulsion of choice. However, there many other things to consider, like how the boat was maintained and cared for, that could trump the desire to go a few more mph's. I've got the 8.1's and have no regrets. The boat is short of being overpowered with them.

There were more 8.1's and BIII's manufactured than the base Axius model, so you've got a better chance of finding a cherry vessel with those options.

A couple questions, does he have a boat currently, what is his experience, what kind of docking situation will he encounter?
