I have a question...I see in the winterizing threads where some use pump up sprayers to fill the OD with new fluid as well as to inject pink into the fresh water inlet in the transom locker. The hose on the sprayer is changed out and the appropriate fitting put on the end. After pumping up the sprayer, some say they turn the sprayer upside down. Why do you turn it upside down if it has a pickup tube that goes to the bottom? What am I missing here?

Thanks,
Bennett

Be careful if you use a pump sprayer on the gearcase. I saw a guy blow out seals when he didn't remove the vent plug and over pressured the gearcase. Plus, how much time will it really save VS a regular pump on a quart or the 2.5 gallon bottle of gearlube. Depending on your sprayer, they can develop tremendous pressure.

Thanks for the advice! Just seems that it would me much easier than pumping the little pump a million times to put in 3 quarts.

I went to Harbor freight and got one of those hand pumps that fit on top of a 5 gal. pail that I got from Home Depot. I put the lube in there and pump a few strokes and it fills up the OD. Much easier than doing bottle by bottle and less messy.
