Official 330/350 (2008 and newer) Thread

HAHA congrats Dave on the purchase, you and the admiral will fill up that space quick. Can you send me some picks of the engine room, I was curious to see how big that is

Thanks Y, you were very helpful along the way!

I'll snap some pics for you this weekend and send them to you. Suffice to say its a wee bit crowded down there!

Hello, on our 2008 330 in the control panel on the transom there are two electrical plug ins for shore power. And there is a water spigot with a traditional control knob similar to an external house faucet labeled "fresh". But there is also a water (not sure if fresh or salt) "quick" connector.

Does anyone know what this quick connector line is? And if so, how to turn on?

Thanks everyone,
Jess

Thanks Art!

You're welcome. The spigot you referred to, with the traditional control knob is a very convenient way to connect a wash down hose, for cleaning your boat, bilge, etc. I keep one of those no kink collapsible hoses, and can neatly put all 50 foot of it, back into the locker. It will draw from your dock source, or fresh water tank, depending on which you are using at the time. I also keep a traditional hose on the dock, but this is more convenient, especially when away from the dock.

Hello All,
New to this forum. Glad a friend told me about it. Looks like a great resource. We are in the market for a 330..2008 era when we stumbled upon what looks like a great deal on a trade in '08 350 in FL. Pompano Beach area. B3, Axius,Black hull etc. I figured I would see if by chance anyone is familiar with this particular boat, I know crazier things could happen right? We are in Jersey...not exactly around the corner. SO I wanted to get as much info before making the trip . Also, I would image you guys in FL have most of your operations in salt water...What should I be concerned with regarding FL boats?

Regards

John

I believe the 2008 350 is the same as a 2010 370, so look at that post for some info or ask away. I find the Axius to be a great addition to this boat. I love the layout and features of my boat but I will tell you that a black hull is the best looking one when clean, but dryig salt water will almost always make if look like cleaning is needed.

If it is salt water - check if it is SeaCore B3's/Engines - they are more resistant to salt water. But even SeaCore will need Risers and maybe manifolds replaced in time. If it is well taken care of - lifetime is 5-7 years - where Raw water cooled is 3-5 years. Look around riser gaskets for rust - if there are rust - then that is (can be) one of the very visual clues that a replacement is needed soon - but - if you get serious - pay for full engine survey including inspection of risers/gaskets and manifolds. That will require you to pay for new gaskets+time :) but might be worth it...

Then check if the flush adaptor seem to have been used (plastic hose quick adaptor thing) you plug into the engine to flush it. If it looks brand new like mine did - owner has never flushed the engine - then expect maintenance issues. There is a plug on each starbord engine riser where you attach the quick plug hose thing for flushing the engine.

If the boat has been kept on a lift - check all seals carefully as the high heat dry them out. The most expensive seals fixes are in the Bravo 3 steering pin. So look inside the where the steering pin is for indications of salt build up and rust and dripping water after the boat has been in the water for a few days. You can also try to force water in - when revering with a bit of thrust - that will make water drips in most cases if seal are bad. That is a VERY expensive thing to fix. (Both engines out for best fix) $3000? per engine... My surveyor did not find those on my boat... :(

Last but not least for the engine department - listen to the water pumps - if they make noise like slight clunks - then bearings are close to coming off. That is a very common Merc issue as well. Naughty mechanics will try to sell you a new pump - nicer ones will offer you the option of reconditioning your old pump OR exchanging the broken one.

Since it has Axius - make certain all service bulletins has been taken care off - especially the " White Glove" upgrade. Search here for more info on White Glove.

But I have the 2008 310 - and I love my boat :) and know it pretty well by now. And it is not much different to the 350 apart from a few feet here and there *G*

I would take the $ offer price to a few local NJ dealers/brokers and see if they have similar boats and can match the deal. Florida is pretty far to transport a boat that size and will cost you big.
Plus, buying it from a dealer/broker it may already have a proper survey done or include a limited warranty. Either way, a survey is necessary and they will charge you to assess the boat and its mechanical and system conditions.
The 350 is a good boat, but can have lots of issues, especially since it is a 2008 and getting up there in age which requires more serious and expensive service.

Good luck

Hello everyone. I am a new owner to a 2011 350 Sundancer. My question is about the speakers on the sun deck rails. Mine do not work. My dock neighbor told me that the plug for them is in the starboard side cabinet, near the main sleeping quarters. I opened the cabinet, and low and behold, there are the wires. However, when plugged into the headphone jack on the i-pod, or the USB cable port, still no sound. Do they use a battery? Is there a special accessory switch to throw. Any answer would be appreciated, before I start removing panels. Thanks.

Yes , let me know what find. My 09 has the same speaker rails and I have other issues to address first before I hunt down the cables. My gameports in the mid-cabin and by the head berth don't work either. The coax cables in the back for the gameport is plugged in, but doesn't work. My boat came with transom speakers, those don't work either but I did find them in the engine room disconnected, why? Beats me

I'll let you know after I fiddle with the cables this weekend. I also would like to hook the TV up to the cockpit speakers too. And my Tv doesn't pick up reg channels, either. I have an adjustable-strength antenna on the boat, but to no avail. Do I need a digital converter for a 2011 boat? Maybe it has left over (analog) interior parts from an '09-'10? Figures. LOL. i would be greatful for any input. My experience with interior panels is, they never seem to go back on the same way again. Thanks.

I was told that the fwd speakers work off of the IPOD jack that is in the starboard fwd locker. I never could get them to work so I cut off the speakers. (they were in pretty rough shape anyway). My transom speakers volume was not good relativly speaking. There is a switch at the helm to turn them on/off, take a look at that. Took the covers off and found the speakers were shot. New speakers there, a new AMP to run everything and wala, great sounding music.

2008 my TV system has a Glomex antenna (digital) signal receiver. Depending on where I am, I can get numorous local channels just off the antenna. Crystal clear.
Here is a link to a youtube video. This IS my boat. I got paid for them use it in this commercial. This does NOT necessarily reflect my political views. I sold my sole to the devil. lol

Pretty aggressive with the throttles away from the dock! Hope you had them sign a waiver!!:smt119

I know. I had to scold the guy a couple times. I was in the boat telling the idiot what to do. He had never driven a boat before. I had the production company's insurance in my pocket.

The speakers are powered from your iPod but the acc circuit breaker must be on in the MDP for power.

Whoever designed or hooked up the entertainment systems in our boats had no idea what they were doing. My off season project is to fix the mess that is my stereo, DVD and TV systems.

First off, my dvd player only goes to *one* speaker by the bed. The TV in the cabin gets no audio period. When watching tv only the speakers by the bed get sound and one speaker is slightly ahead of the other one.

The only tv that works well is the one in the cockpit, which we had PWM install at the time they did our KVH.

Our bow speakers do work off of an iPod or iPhone. We have a dock in the forward hanging locker.

The way mine works is,in,addition to plugging in your iPod into the apple plug you need use a patch cord from the headset output,of the ipod to the adapter in the locker I also have a circuit breaker for this in the electric panel
