Arch Removal. I need to remove the arch on this boat for shipping to California. Does anyone have any info on this procedure??

Glad to see another one of us out there. Mine was new, purchased in Phoenix and shipped to SD, so I can't help because it was never assembled before shipment. I know it took some time to put it together once it arrived in CA. What city are you shipping to?

I work part time for a broker. I think it is going to San Diego. We are trying to see if we can do it ourselves or just let the yard do it. I haven't seen the boat yet. It is coming to our marina this coming week.

I would suggest having the yard in San Diego send the person that will assemble it to the East Coast to break it down. You don't want different mechanics on each end.

Knot, read Ken's post above a second time, then a third time, then once more.

When we shipped Beachcomber from Detroit to Portland, OR, I paid to have the technician that was going to reassemble the boat fly to Detroit for a week. I paid his hotel, food and rental car bills and it was the best money I spent on the whole process. He was there to supervise the removal of the whole flybridge
removal and he cut every wire that went up to the flybridge. Before he cut a wire he would mark on both sides of the cut what it want to and what the wire was for so that when he reassembled it, the job was a breeze.

You may not need that since there aren't that many wire going to the flybridge, but it's something to consider.

I know on my hardtop I have the radar.lighting, speaker wiring. But the elelectronics and dash along with the seats will all prob have to be removed. It's a lot of work but needs to be done correctly.

Interesting idea. I'll toss that at the boss. Thank you

I think the truck driver said just the arch. I'm concerned about the fiber optic wiring. We will probably pull off the access panel under the radar and see what is in there. Thank you for all of your answers.

That's because he's the truck driver not the owner of the boat. I wouldn't be happy with that statement if he was transporting it for me. I'd make a call to sea ray. They have plans for removing arches etc for transport. Good luck

We do have the plans coming from Sea Ray to help. I'm trying to talk the boss into let the yard do it. They perform this service all the time.

Great news. After we looked at the boat and inside the access panels, we did the job ourselves. All wires just unplugged except for the power wire under the helm. Everything is tagged and well marked and we sent notes on anything that might be in question. We had a crane pick up the top and set it on the bow. It was secured and shrink wrapped and is on it's way to San Diego.
