Hello,
My fresh water pump no longer pumping any water but sounds like it is working. I have a Shurflo water pump and thought that it is self priming? Originally thought my water tank was empty, refilled and no water. Is it possible that the impeller failed or do I just have air in the system somewhere. I didn't hook up to shore water connection this weekend, would this resolve the issue? Head system operational but doesn't get water either.
Thanks,

Your pump is self priming. Look for clogged filter first. It should be near the pump. If the pump is working you will be able to bleed any air from the system by opening all of the spouts... and you will hear the air being forced out.

Most likely air in the system. Open each faucet, one at a time.

Water strainer clean, I even poured a bottle of water into the line hoping it would help.

Make sure the vent line and vent thru hull is clear too. Mine was clogged with spider webs, and other bug crap and it made the pump work harder while it created a vacuum.

All good responses so far... Water in the tank, clogged filter/screen at the pump, air in the lines, a leak (air or water). If all of that checks out its time for a new pump. The pumps are not worth trying to replace any internal parts.

Check the fittings from the input back to the water tank. Most likely one is sucking air causing the pump to not be able to pull from the water tank, like drinking with a hole in a straw.

If you hook up to the dock water connector you should have water as you don't use the pump nor the water in the tank.

Or if you have a 1/2" female with some tubing hook it up to the input side of the pump and see if it draws out of a bucket if it does then it's the line from the tank to the pump.

Otherwise replace it...

sometimes I have to loosing the connection (output side) of the pump to prime if I have run out of water
