Boat Ramp Failure.jpg

A friend saw this in New Smyrna, FL. The wife was backing the trailer down the ramp and the husband said stop! She hit the accelerator pedal, not the brake pedal. That'll ruin your day.

LOL!! or maybe a great night to smooth it over.....

How would you explain that to your insurance company " The wife was driving didn't know her left foot from her right foot " or " She was looking for a good place to get the car clean inside and out at the same time " lol

Looks like she at least turned on the windshield wipers to keep the wind shield clear so she could see! LOL

Always put your tow vehicle in neutral when backing down ramp.....no need for reverse.

She's just letting the stain on the passenger seat soak...

Have any of you actually been in a vehicle when you thought this may actually happen to you?

The internet is littered with pictures of submerged vehicles. I have to imagine this happens at a boat ramp somewhere in the USA and Canada every weekend.

NO! I won't let my wife drive me or my truck anywhere!

I worked at Westmoreland State Park on the Potomac in the early 70's and the ramp at that time was a creosoted like railroad type timbers that went straight back down into the Potomac River. No break water or anything else to help protect the ramp of back of any boat backing down the ramp. While the ramp was long enough for low or high tide it did become slippery the further you went down the ramp. We used to have a yellow rambler station wagon with a three speed on the colume which like a lot of vehicles back then took so getting used to before your pulled out. Can't tell you how many times boat trailer and car went off the back of the ramp which would shut everything down till a big wrecker could remove the car and the trailers were pretty easy. On more than one occasion a large wave would swamp someones outboard before they got it up the ramp. Don't know if it is still the but always provided a lot of entertainment of Sunday afternoons watching the fools go at it.

If she was lucky:)

I kinda feel sorry for the guy, but we do see it more and more every year. Last year we sat and watched a guy try to back his truck in, all the way back to where he had parked his jet ski. The old guys had to step in and stop him, his ski was against the bulkhead about 60' way from the ramp. He had water in the cab before they could stop him
