Official (1998-2002) 310 Sundancer Thread

Vida, in my boat's fuel system set-up the electric boost pump is outside the Cool Fuel System, that's why I was confused, compairing the schematic with your initial guidance. Actually the fuel comes from the tank to the booster pump, then to the Fuel/Water Separating Filter, then to the Cool Fuel System and finally to the rail (with a bypass to the Fuel/Water Separating Filter). I will try to search for the second filter (the small one) at the edge of the booster pump.

According to the Engine Service Manual, installation of an additional filter is not recomended (probably it may disturb the flow).

Anyway, your information is really valuable, thank you very much.

The filter you are referring to is the one I was indicating. It is found inside / next to the fuel pump assembly. It's the only one installed in the system. I was told by some mechanics that an additional water separator / filter can be installed within the fuel line. The small filter inside the fuel pump assembly is to protect the fuel pump from debris. I have not installed additional filters (both engines) but i am strongly consisting it since it would remove moisture from the fuel which the current small filter does not. One obervation made is that the filtering unit can not be the one with the clear drain system these are only used in outbroards.

Closed oil filter type only.

Hi everyone just sold my 1995 290 and moved up to a 2001 310 are their any quirks I should know about it's the inboard version .

I found that the shower drain is in the wrong spot which created a big puddle in the corner. I ended up putting in a second drain after everyone stepping in the puddle and tracking water everywhere all weekend.

My engine hatches are also sagging down. I don't think they were thought out too well. Your boat is on the newer side so I'm guessing you have the updated exhaust setup.

Hmm not too much else of the top of my head...

Thanks Katzndogs I will look into the drain issue. I lucked out with this boat she was a sandy boat with very minor damage a couple of scratches and bent rudders and props. I called the original owner and was told that both engines were replaced the spring before sandy hit.

Wow Sal A, there just no repect. The orginal is pretty expensive. Try e bay sea ray parts, you might find one in great shape.

Finally, I have completed all the upgrades to my 310.
Here is the latest: New camper top.
This really increase the room in the boat and I do like the looks.
Sorry for the poor photos Camper top Port side.jpgCamper Top.jpg

Isn't it cool when you can complete these tasks. Looks great. You can sit back and look at it -- and say - one down...

Yes it is, it only took a year longer than I thought.
Now I will probably be lost trying to figure out "what next"

Hello all, I am new to the forum. I just purchased a 1999 310 Sundancer and I am in the process of getting it in the water. I have one question, I am missing the Throttle Control Knobs. Can you believe someone stole them? Sea Ray and Mercruiser are no help in replacing them. No part numbers.. So I am looking for aftermarket, would have prefered original but what can you do. I have two choices for the thread, 1.5 or 1 7/8, does anyone know what size? I am also missing my spicket to the galley faucet, Sea Ray will only sell me a new faucet. Does anyone have an extra? LOL, I know but doesn't hurt to ask.

Hi,

Another new sea ray owner, just bought a 98 310 vdr. Hoping to move to our dock tomorrow or the next day, we're in cape coral and the boat is at the other end of town. Anyone want a one engined adventure? We are retired and short handed... and a couple of decades out of practice . local area code 541 6373, Bill.... thanks

I would be happy to help you but, I am in Indiana. Welcome aboard!
I love my 1998 310. Hope you do likewise.

Good afternoon, I am new to the forum and I am looking to replace the batteries on my 2000 310 Sundancer. I currently have group size 27 batteries, qty 3 and replacing with Duracell® AGM Deep Cycle Marine and RV Battery - GroupSize SL34MAGM from Sams Club. There price is the best at 119.88. I know I don't need that much power but will it hurt anything? The price for comparable batteries like I have are more expensive and aren't as heavy duty as the Duracell which definitely look like the better deal.

Welcome aboard! I don't think it will hurt anything, maybe the experts here might prove me wrong. Those are decent prices for sure!

Is there any way to monitor our engines with an Ipad app or stand alone unit?

Looking for water temp, oil temp, etc.

Any ideas? Got 5.7L MPI Mercruisers.

How do these boats run with 5.7 V-drives? I really prefer inboards even though we're on a land locked fresh water lake. BUT- is there an advantage to an I/O drive setup vs V-drives in this boat?

I only gave the experience with one that I came close to buying, but ran beautifully. On plane quickly, smooth power and all the speed I thought it should have.

As for using inboards, they are great even in inland waters. We still have to deal with winds and slight currents, but they are fun to use and once you get used to them, you'll never want anything else!

I have a 2000 310 DA that I replaced all the batteries on this spring. I have 4 AGMs grp 27. The setup on my boat was 2 batteries set up in parallel on each side. The stb side provides both starting and house power while the port is just starting. If you put 2 batteries on stb side and one on port, you will be fine as long as the stb batteries are paralleled. How many amps are the batteries?

I love the way a boat with twin inboards handles around the slip...
