So a little back story,

I have been planning my stereo upgrade for quite some time and already have many of the items that I need / want for the boat. I have decided to go with JL as they are what seems to be the highest rated speakers with my research.
I am looking for a JL MHD 900/5 amp, 10" JL Infinite baffle Speed Grill sub woofer, Pair of 6.5" JL speed grill coaxial speakers, and a set of 1" JL tweeters with the speed grill. I have had "NO" luck in sourcing these items form several places.

1st.

ONLINE CAR STEREO'S is a SCAM!!!!!!!

I first tried to order from them because when I did the stereo in my truck many moons ago they were great with customer service, had good prices, and shipped fast. Sad to say this is not the story today. I had to jump through a lot of hoops and make at least 5 phone calls to see where my order was and even fax copies of a utility bill and other B.S. to prove it was actually me that was purchasing the items. After two weeks of run around from these people saying they're waiting on Jose or Miguel or whom ever, to do something I get an email saying every one of the items I ordered was out of stock but would be coming from the factory in 3 months tops. I finally told them to "shove it" cancel my order. (I have been monitoring my card like a hawk waiting for some crazy charge thanks to these people.

Best advice don't even bother! Trust me I'm doing you a favor.

2nd,

After the above B.S I was surfing around and remembered that B.O.E. was also a JL supplier. I contacted the website and gave a list of items that I was looking for. I was quickly sent an email back that they would check on prices and let me know the availability of the items. When I got the quote the price for the amp and the sub were much much higher then the prices even on the B.O.E. website. So I sent a quick email back and was told they would check on it. I waited a few days and didn't hear anything back. I called last Friday and spoke with the gentleman I had been conversing with who stated that they were having issues with the website and that they are not required to honor the prices on the site and they are still checking in on the actual costs of my items and he would get back with me Monday. Well, here's Monday and I haven't heard a thing. I realize that he is probably waiting on a price from his supplier but this has already got me going around in circles again. I would like to give Jim my business but I feel that I am not going to be satisfied with the answers my contact is going to give me saying that his original prices are what it is and that's the end. No disrespect meant in anyway for Jim and B.O.E. marine just giving insight with my current situation.

So finally,

Does anyone have a reliable decent source that I can order these things from? I know I can go directly to the JL site but I will be paying over 1k for an amp that I have seen online places for the 7-800 dollar range. I just want to get this stuff together and be done shopping. Thanks for reading my rant and thanks for any and all advice.

Jason sorry man your having a bad time with this. If you could take pictures of what you do. It's time for me also.

If BOE can't help try Crutchfield.com

Also Freemans Stereo Video in Charlotte. Ask for Travis Grimm. 704-987-1313.

I bought all my JL Audio equipment through a shop in Michigan called Soundwaves. Ask for David Goodwin.

I bought my mhd900/5 from BOE a couple years ago. JL had it listed for $1100 or so and I did find some places that had it for $800-$900 but I ended up getting it from BOE for under $800. I didn't have that kind of luck on the m770s though. Sorry to hear your having problems with BOE, they've just always been awesome to work with and more often than not, seem to have the best prices for high quality electronics.

Btw, fantastic amp. Powers 2 pairs of m770 components on my bridge and the sound is amazingly clean with plenty of headroom to spare.

Try www.sonicelectronix.com I bought several items from them in the past. Fast free shipping, great CS, and a very good selection of JL audio marine items and are an AD. In my case (for several items) they had the best price on the net also. I think they are having a mardi-gras sale right now as well.

Pyro, call me tomorrow and I'll get you squared away. There should be nothing wrong with our website prices, you could order there right now at those prices. JL is very inconsistent with their pricing, policies and quality which is why we focus on Wet Sounds now. No BS with Wet Sounds. JL specifically says on their site that stuff bought on sites like Amazon won't have warranty so be careful with that. Our JL pricing might not be the best, but it is less than Crutchfield and we are a known quantity.

We do honor the prices on our site too unless there is some IT meltdown where somethingis obviously off, like a garmin GPS for $20. Sorry that you were told differently.

We have bought from both sonic and online car stereo when in a pinch. Always used paypal so never worried about the card. But boxes often show up unsealed and the return policy is non-existent. The product would always show up though.

Jim, I'll call you tomorrow. Thanks for the info and I would rather do business with someone I've met anyway. Thanks.

X2. Also for you fellow Canadians, Crutchfield.ca is good too. Prices are duty included and their warehouse is in Toronto area.

Good pricing but beware when it comes to being a JL Audio authorized reseller and honoring the manufacturer warranties.

"We are not authorized with JL Audio, nor have we ever claimed to be, too. On all of our JL Audio items, we advertise our "1-year SonicElectronix.com warranty," as JL Audio's warranty doesn't apply: we don't buy from them directly."

just fyi...
