Hi all,
I am working on Relocating the fresh water tank as a winter project forward under the V birth. On looking at the Sea ray Parts catalog online it lists the part # as 116186. I am wondering if anyone knows the tank configuration and were exactly sear ray mounted it forward.
The reason for this project is I have acquired a 3 kw Gen from another sea ray and would like to put it in. My 268 is equipped with the twin 4.3LX so it is pretty tight in there. Also Location of Water pump if you know?
Hope someone can help? Thanks.

I don't think Sea Ray ever had the fresh water tanks under the forward birth on the 268's. Mine, and ever other one I've seen has them on the port side support right next to the gas tank.

I believe the 268's that had gennys had them mounted on the starboard side support just right of the starboard engine.

The fresh water pump is screwed to the transom on the port side near the hot water tank right above the trim pump.

I've got some pics if you need them, but they are on my drive at home.

Thanks for the response Getaway,
I would think that if they put the Water tank on the Strbd side with the hot water heater it would add to much weight to that side. I know when my Tank is empty the boat lists to the Stbd. I also looked at the drawings on the sea ray Web site and it shows the tank up front, Although that may not mean much. Drawings may be wacky.
I took some Measurements under the V birth and cant see how I could fit 24 Gal tank up there.
If you do have any Pics of A generator installed on a 268 I would love to see them.
I am just thinking about taking on this project, With my twin engines it's tighter than a frog butt down there so it may be a huge can of worms i'm opening.
Would love to hear any thoughts you may have on this project.
CG.

I have a diagram/parts manual for my 1989 268DA, send me your e-mail address and I will be more than happy to send it to you.

CG,
Here is a pic of mine after I completed the transom and stringer rebuild. Every 268 I've looked at looks just like this.

The hot water tank and fresh water tank are located on the port side to counterbalance the fridge and bathroom area.

Here is a shot looking rearward from the front of the engine opening:

Here is a shot from the starboard side looking to the port. You are seeing from right to left, the fresh water tank, water heater and pump.

Here's a shot from port looking to starboard. This is normally where a genny would be if your boat had one. I have a tool box in that spot:

Thanks for the pics Getaway. Interesting that on my boat the water tank is on the port and the Water heater is on the Stbd. Also When my water tank is empty the boat lists heavy to the stbd side. I would be concerned that if I relocated the water heater to the port it would not be enough weight to counter balance the generator on the Stbd side. Any thoughts you have on this would be appreciated.

All of the 268's list to starboard with the fresh water tank low or empty. I'll bet it will be much worse with a genny. I would for sure move the water heater to the port side. Maybe even add some ballast weight or just keep the fresh water tank full.

I have also had the thought of moving the water tank over to the stbd. side with the Water heater to counter balance the Genny. Could be adding work but may be better weight distribution??

I just got an email back from Sea Ray customer support and they said the Water tank is located up front when they add the generator but they have no drawings showing the configuration of the tank.
Don't know if this helps or not?

Don't know if this helps but fyi...on the '88 Sundancer 250 (also known as the Sorrento that year) the fresh water tank WAS under the v-berth.

Thanks ten years gone. That may help, I'm looking for a parts diagram for that model and see if is the same tank. Unfortunately the Sea Ray web sight no longer has that year up on the web. Any chance anyone here have one?

Just wanted to comment about the great level of cleanliness in your engine compartment. I realize you just had work done in this photo, but still....NICE

Thanks!

I still get down there and wipe it down. Have not resorted to waxing the engine compartment yet, but I've thought about it...lol.

Sometimes I think the inside of the boat looks better than the outside.

In my boat that area is sealed and full of foam. So I went with a bladder
