Hah! Thanks.
When doing my research for this trip it was tough finding really good images and updated info on a few items, especially Tangier. I thought others may find this helpful.

For those who are curious..
The shots from the boat were done with a GoPro Hero3 Black. 1080 24fps. I used some gaff tape to hold it on the arch right by the grab bar. The other shots I was holding the camera.

The still images are from a Canon 7D and the other video was shot with a Panasonic HPX250 camera.

Ryan,

Thank you. That was great. I obviously recognize some of the footage from around here, but I'm glad you went to Tangier. We had planned to go there this year, but hadn't made it. We've been to Solomon's by car, but hope to make it by boat as well.

ryan how is the poromac for boating? i grew up in alexandria and rowed crew on the potomac but never had a chance to do any boating.

I wish we had planned more time in Solomon's. The marinas are nice and the is plenty of stuff to do in walking distance.

Tangier was interesting. As long as you know what kind of destination it is, it's worth a visit.

How much fuel did you burn for this trip ?

We used about 375 gallons. Our 8.1's give us about .7 GPM.
On day 1 we hit very rough seas on the bay and that took us longer to cross than we expected.

Fuel stops:
Fairview Beach (very tight inlet, not recommended) $4.49/gallon
Tangier (cash only!) $4.75/gallon (only took on about 40 gallons as a safety buffer)
Crisfield $4.23/gallon includes 10cents BoatUS discount
Solomons $4.25/gallon
Aqualand $4.30/gagallon

We left DC with 3/4 tank with the expectation we'd fill up at Leeslyvania. Website said they were open. Got then and it was the first week of the season that they closed M-Th. Thats why we ended up at Fairview.

Jobofly-
The upper Potomac is easy to navigate. On weekends it can be a bit crowded. On this trip we left on a Thursday. Virtually no boat traffic. The river was flat calm until we got past Colonial Beach. I live in Alexandria. We spend most of our time near Gtown and three sisters to the north. Great places to anchor.

The bottom half of the river is very wide and begins to act a bit like the bay. Althought on Sunday, when we returned, the bay and river were both very calm.

We got stopped by a Navy boat just south if the 301 bridge in Thursday. The bomb range at Dahlgren was live so they rerouted us down the navy bouys on the Maryland side. We definitely heard some loud explosions.

Ryan,

I've heard about being stopped at Dahlgren, but have never experienced it. Next time you're looking for gas near Leesylvania, go around the corner to EZ Cruz in Neabsco Creek. They have a self service gas pump open 24x7. Occoquan Harbor on the Occoquan does as well.

Farther down the river, I've found Port Kinsale and Coles Point to have good fuel prices, but that was a few years ago. I wasn't impressed with Aqualand the one time I stopped there for fuel.

Thanks for the fuel tip. Aqua land is a sad marina. With that said, the fuel dock is an easy in/out.

Excellent video and trip, have done many trips from C&D canal to Baltimore Inner Harbor, some great memories made there
