460 DA Owners Thread

Well it's a done deal, official 460DA owner!! I know I am going to have some question down the road so hope you guys don't mind!

Congratulations! Looking forward to hearing more about the new vessel. (They look remarkably similar, don't they?)

Good For Now! Welcome to the club-460 Club that is! You have a very nice vessel there! Enjoy it and stay on here so we can help you with the transition! Great boat! You have some features that make me green with envy!

Well, started my trip from Panama City Beach, FL this past Friday afternoon and stopped in Sand Destin, FL for the night at Baytowne Wharf. Left Sand Destin and pulled into the slip in just 3 1/2 hours at The Wharf Marina in Orange Beach, AL. She ran great and averaged 25 to 26 mph at 2300 rpm's with temps around 162 degrees. My family and I absolutely love this vessel! We will have many memories to make with her. Now for the minor upgrades to begin!! I have one question though, while we were packing to head home last night I started hearing a "beep beep" and it sounded like it was coming from the breaker panel in the salon. I could not figure out what was causing it, any ideas?

If the old name on your boat was K.C. Lady, I know her well and have run her for the previous owner many times. We have also spent many a sunset in my cockpit watching the sun go down over her profile. She is a great boat that just needs using.

Congratulations and enjoy her.

Hi Frank,

That is her, keeping the name. I don't want any bad karma with a name change. Bill & Kay are wonderful people and plan on staying in touch with them.

You really need to. Bill is a hoot and when he gets to know you it seems you never stop laughing at his antics. Kay is a sweetheart.....one of our favorite folks at the marina. It is a shame that Bill's circumstances are such that they can't use the boat like he used to. Bill and I were among 5 or 6 close friends who cruised the area together. Bill liked attention so he brought all the ladies in the group flowers before one trip. I hailed him on the VHF all week as Capt. FTD and it stuck. Everytime he saw us after that, he showed up the next day with flowers for my wife. Great folks.

Your boat is a jewel. Bill is mechanical and understands boats. He never let K.C. Lady Lack for a thing, until the last few months when he just couldn't see to her the way he always had. She is also probably the best equipped 460DA in the country. Enjoy her.......she is a great boat. If you haven't made t he contact yet, the service manager at Treasure Island knows the boat better than anyone....he is an unusual guy having spent years as a Regional Service Manager for Saunders Engines in Mobile. If you can't get answers from Bill, don't hesitate to call Roland Cortes...850-234-6533, ext 30.

That is awesome Frank, I will remember Captain FTD next time I speak to Bill! Thanks so much for the re-assurance that I found a diamond in the rough! I have met. Roland, he was a great help. I had them acid wash the engines and generator plus some other general maintenance items. I know I have some big shoes it fill sitting behind the helm.

My family and I spent the night on her Saturday night for the first time and had a blast!! I still have much to learn about the Diesel engines and the whole engine compartment. Coming from gas engines I already love the diesel's!

Michael,

The "beep, beep" may have been from the CO detector (there are three on the boat) in the salon below the panel. I had to replace that one a couple of years ago when it became weak.

Sounds like you're getting pretty good performance numbers. 2275-2300 seems to be a sweet spot. Maybe Frank will confirm since he knows your boat.

Got a question for those with cockpit AC. My condensation drains into the back of the bilge. I like everything dry down there so I can tell if any problem. Has anyone else have the same issue? If not...where does yours drain into? Thanks.

Also...Congrats Michael on new boat !! Have had mine for 2 years and we love it.

Thanks, John

Beautiful boat, Congratulations. She was my next door neighbor this past winter.

We overnighted at The Wharf on the way to Panama City in October. Nice place. BTW, diesel fuel at Zekes was atleast 30-40 cents cheaper than anywhere else in the area.

Our cockpit air drains to the aft bilge as well. Just spent two weeks in the Keys and I'm surprised how much condensation there was. We ran the cockpit air every evening and it was enough to trigger the pump once when we got underway. First time my wife heard the alarm from the systems monitor!!

Quick question, I popped a breaker (GFI?) On the starboard side, salon by the recliner was the offended recepticle and I cannot find the plug with the popped gfi- any suggestions? The salon lights, AC recepticle, head AC recepticle, cabin AC recepticle and the forward cabin AC recepticle all on the starboard side. AC plug in engine room works.

Thanks James and Tim. Russ I am to new to the 460 to know that one, sorry. Has anyone updated the from the RL80C chart plotter? Has anyone updated an old KVH satellite system?

Russ I think it is in the aft head compartment in a small cabinet or under the sink from my memory of the 2000 460 I know well.
