Hello I have a 2005 Sea Ray Sun Dancer, I just put it in the water. I am having an issue with the pump I believe by the motor. I had an issue last year, but was able to glue it. Here is the part number (86363ItI), does anybody have any ideas where I can purchase this? I have a friend who's a mechanic that can fix this issue, as I looked in my owners manual, but I could not find it. Thanks Tom:huh:

Which pump are you referring to and/or what issue? The part number looks funky - it starts off possibly correct, but I'm not sure of the rest? Regardless, any local Merc shop (doesn't have to be Sea Ray if it's an engine part) can get you want you want.

It called a water distribution housing. Any idea where I can get one at? The dealer wants to charge me $200 plus install.
thanks

Ah, OK. That's not a pump. It's basically just a thing that collects the circulating cooling water and, well, "distributes" it to other places. I believe the correct part number you're looking for is 863631t1 (note the "ones", instead of "eye's"). Check your manual to be sure. $200 is about right for retail but you should absolutely be able to buy it over the counter without having your dealer install it for you. Otherwise, you can buy it online if you're going to install it yourself. My guess is you might save about $25 by buying it online.

Are you positive it can't be glued?

I glued it last year and it held. The mechanic glued it again this year. I will see if it holds. If not would you recommend a place on line I could purchase one at?Thanks

Dennis, is this part specific only to the 240, or is this another part I have to worry about failing. If I have it, I haven't seen it yet, so it might be buried behind the engine. Anyway, a quick search and I came up with a cheaper unit on eBay, but it may not be the exact match. I do like the gluing idea though, though it may need a special glue to do the job permanently. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MerCruiser-...080&pid=100011&prg=1005&rk=5&sd=290864301870&

The pump is not specific to a certain boat model, just certain engines. The 496 does not use this setup.

I "think" the pump is made out of some sort of glass reinforced nylon? But not sure. You'll know better than me as to where it's cracked and whether or not trying a different type of glue will work or not.

As far as online - I haven't used any of these places personally... I'm lucky enough to have a fully-equipped Merc shop at my disposal day or night! But, places like mercruiserparts dot com and perfprotech dot com have been around for a while and it seems like people have been happy with them. Maybe your local Merc shop can help you with the price a bit, maybe not. Obviously I'm a little biased and prefer for people to buy from their local Merc shop to help keep them in business - and truth be told, most local businesses can't match online pricing since the local guys have to worry about things like paying employees, rent, electric bills, gas and water bills, etc. I'm not saying I never shop online for things other than boat stuff, but I do still try to support my local economy whenever possible. I know I end up paying more sometimes, but then I get personalized service too and sometimes you can't put a price on that. Well, that's my rant for the day! :smt001

Guys Thanks for the help, I ended up purchasing one on line for $165.00 vs. the $198.00 that my marina wanted to charge me. Also my buddy is going to be installing it since he is a mechanic. Thanks for all the input. Now I just seem some nice days here in Wisconsin. It's been raining since Saturday afternoon. Tom
