Offer Accepted! 370DA

Todd, Like tdschafer mentioned it seems like you have put a lot of thought into this particular boat. The fact that these problems have surfaced prior to your purchase is a blessing IMO. The fact that that the current owner is taking care if these issues is also a sign of good faith. If you like the boat, the price is right, it has good bones, and the major issues are addressed to a level of your comfort I would say go for it. You can do all of the due diligence in the world, buy a seemingly perfectly maintained boat, and it still doesn't mean that something unforseen wont happen the first time you use it. I am fan of the model you are looking at. Good luck and have fun.

Of all the things you mentioned, the only thing that gives me pause is the compression test. The engines in our 370s are susceptible to water ingestion. My '98 was retrofitted with the water lift mufflers instead of the logs that is common in these boats for that reason. Even only the slightest bits of moisture can mean a valve job. Watch the engine closely.

Other than that, I agree with you. Go for it until it no longer looks viable. IMHO, the 370 of that period is the best of the Sea Rays, even better than the 380. A well cared for 370 is only barely distinguishable from a newer boat. Because of my maple interior, many who have seen my boat think it is as much as 10 years newer.

In the end, 'trust, but verify' and you cannot go wrong.

Good luck and keep us posted.

...deal seems to have died. Owner taking weeks to provide updates, and then it's just partial information. I've moved on. I'm very patient but there comes a time when it becomes obvious only one party is committed to this relationship.
NO WORRIES !! Looking at a 1997 370da next weekend with 8.1's installed in 2006 and has had interior redecorated. So the hunt continues.

Love me some 370DA!

Good luck, keep us posted. When you get your boat you should look up Bucit and Kevin27, they boat in your area.
