Official 240 Sundancer Thread

This is my first season with the boat so I don't have any of those records but I assume it hasn't been changed as the previous owners used it very very infrequently.

I have the merc 5.7

Impeller would be the first thing I would look at and since you are there I would change it out. Depending on how frequent or infrequent you use your boat I would change it out every 2 years at least.

Hey guys,

Just a question...does our boat has a fuel valve to shut down the fuel line? I want to change the fuel/separation filter and I think there must be a valve???

gr Marco

I think there is an auto shut-off valve on the line just as it leave the tank. There is a manual override. Hope this helps, peter

The fuel lines should have an "automatic" ball? valve that only opens on "suction" so if a fuel line gets cut - you won't flood your engine room with fuel.

I have a 2003 and from the tank there is a small fuel pump or celonoid with a nob the size of a pencil eraser and I just shut that off prior to changing my seperator...

Hey everyone,
Wondering if anybody can help me out . I have a 2007 240 dancer with cruisair heat and a/c.I seem to be having a problem with my a/c-heater . The a/c works great but the heater doesn't seem to work ,not blowing any hot air at all. I already checked the sea water pump works great ,checked the strainer,it's clean. I reset the the thermostat.when I push the heat button it says heat ,heating and the compressor goes on .it seems like the unit is stuck in ac mode and won't switch to heat . Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, just wanted to post an update. You guys had been real helpful when I bought my little 240 back in July and I gained lots of info over the summer from this thread. Sadly I lost my boat in Hurricane Sandy.

Here are some pics: http://imgur.com/a/iYyop

Luckily I had insurance. Apparently the tidal surge took the boat off it's blocks and the wind pinned it under the gangplank as you can see there. When the water rose further, it flooded. Unfortunately, the starboard side with the bathroom / helm and all of the electronics were underwater as was most of the engine.

It was a great little boat for me and my family and now I know what I want in the next boat. I'm looking at upgrading to a Sundancer 300. ;-)

Thanks again

I am right there with you. Waiting on the insurance to come assess but I am not hopeful. I was winterized and had the plug out and the boat got taken off the blocks by the surge as well. I am most likely in the same situation as you. Will move up but might take a year or 2 off as the seascape has changed big time and depth and sunken objects next year will claim addition boats.

I have a 2006 240 DA on the trailer in my yard. The boat has been winterized and the battery switch turned to OFF..... My question is if I plug in my shore power will my charger automatically charge the batteries, or will I have to turn my battery swithch to 1, 2, or both.... Anything else I need to do to keep my batteries charged?. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it will charge the batteries as long as the charger is turned on in your panel.

Well finally met with the insurance adjuster today. Doesn't look good which is what I thought. Engine was totally seized up couldn't move, dip stick full of dirt, top of the full oil port was full of water, everything in the engine room needs to be replaced and water got into the outdrive. Then you still have the water 3 to 4 ft that got into the cabin.

Sorry to see that Alvin.
If "Hope Floats" then I hope you're completely made whole again.
